this is what i wanted for like 6 weeks. I really couldnt be happier, i thought he was going to the Leafs.

The Washington Capitals further slashed payroll via trade Wednesday, sending defenseman Sergei Gonchar to the Boston Bruins.

The trade was reported by TSN, a Canadian cable sports network, on its Web site Wednesday.

Sources told TSN that the Caps likely will acquire Boston defenseman Shaone Morrisonn and two draft picks. The deal will not be official until the teams report it to the league.

In order to reduce payroll, the Capitals have jettisoned Jaromir Jagr, Peter Bondra and Robert Lang in recent trades. Gonchar, 29, is in the final year of a four-year, $13.95 million contract that will pay him $3.65 million this season.

Gonchar's 49 points are tops among NHL defensemen.

well tough titties for him.  He'll like Boston. and when they beat Toronto in the playoffs, he'll be happy he's there.

So now he's a Boston wanker, assuming he signs for them long-term. Does that mean he'll have to get a good arse-kicking (fighting) like the rest of the Bruins do when they visit?

I'm surprised you didn't just become a Redwings fan like all the other home-town traitors.

okay, my apologies...I didn't realize you'd lived in Boston.

But you do agree, most folk jump on the Redwings bandwagon.

The Red Wings top farm team was in my hometown growing up. If I were still into hockey, I'd pull for the Red Wings.

you all are missing the most important story in hockey, it looks like the Blues won't make the playoffs this year, thus ending the longest running playoff streak for any team out of the 4 major North American sports leagues   :(
