Radiohead / SM & Jicks
« on: June 01, 2003, 05:36:00 pm »
According to the Stephen Malkmus site SM & Jicks will be opening for RH in the US in Aug/Sept.  He mentions some cities, but doesn't get too specific.  DC was mentioned, by the way.

The announcement on the SM site has been removed.  Probably at the request of Radiohead's PR machine.

The same PR machine that recently sent letters from attorneys to anyone that had Radiohead lyrics or tabs on their site demanding that they take them off or face legal consequences?

 Is Radiohead turning into Metallica?

I wonder if Malkmus will feel the wrath of the machine?

Well concidering half of Pig Lib is Smashing Pumpkins covers, I'd say he's lost his fighting spirit.

Just a bit.  But as he made a big deal of criticizing a band who was very self-indulgent, then making songs equally self-indulgent seems kind of funny.

See also: Mogwai's love affair with Blur.  And Mogwai's recent albums sucking more than anyone, Blur included.

Oh, no!

 It's partially outdoors.

It's a very, very wet year.

Should we hire some Indians to perform an anti-rain dance?

Looking forward too it... saw them last week at that monsoon fest in Jersey... seeing them open with "there there" is worth the price of admission at Merriweather, Nissan, or wherever.  And based on this wonderful weather pattern we are caught in right now one can conclude that either: we will never get out of it and RH will never again play in the area, or the weather gods will be done weeping by the middle of the summer and the weather will be great by august.

Yeah, I was just coming to post about the Aug 20th Merriweather date. I'm not crazy about that venue. I've seen several shows there (NIN, Metallica) and I feel there's something wrong about its acoustics. If you can't get a seat under the amphitheater, you're screwed. And yes, this being the wonderful soaked summer that its being, the whole thing might turned to a rainy, thunderstorm-y fiasco.

They're playing 2 days earlier at Tweeter center in Philly. That might be a better place to catch them.
