would it be too much to ask that posters include a link to an obituary or a news story about the person who died?  Jim Hall, Jan Song-Thaek and Mac McGarry aren't exactly household names.  it would be honoring these people's memory more effectively if you let others learn  who they were.

or has posting a name on this thread become this board's version of "FIRST!!!!!111"?

That is pretty useless. If I wanted that I could just go to wikipedia instead of this site.  Just post a sentence about who they are would be helpful.

Perhaps posters could also include a picture so we know what these people looked like...

I tend to think a picture of a person in their 30s or 40s .. I hate it when in the obituaries they use a picture of someone the week before they died..

This is good.  I notice by looking at these I know who Mac McGarry is and feel sad.  The other 2 I don't need to look into any further.
