This is incredible sad... Gene Taylor Austin based pianist who played recently with The Fabulous Thunderbirds and the Blaster, passed away after being in a house without heat or electricity for 5 days...

I remember first encountering Lawrence Ferlinghetti's work via the bit he has in The Last Waltz. As a naive 21 year old, I thought it was some kind of weird joke and he reminded me of Father Guido Sarducci. I haven't watched the film in a few years (tried to convince my wife that we should watch it as a "Thanksgiving move", she declined), his piece is definitely more memorable than Neil Diamond's section.
