Scott “Top Ten” Kempner

Member of The Dictators and founder of the Del-Lords
somehow missed this one

Del-Lords was a great live band.  Caught them a bunch in the early 80's in Boston (as well as the Del Fuegos).  RIP

I was given ketamine during a hospital stay almost ten years ago now...it’s one hell of a drug….I was given it for pain after a car t-boned into me and broke a lot of my bones….anyways at one point I did begin to hallucinate and at another point became convinced they were trying to kill me….scary stuff

I hear it’s a popular drug for club goers… blows my mind.

What a legacy Joseph Amp Fiddler has, played with George Clinton for numerous year, recorded with Prince, Moodymann, Sly and Robbie, Maxwell, Jamiroquai, etc  Is credit with mentoring Dilla and introducing him to Q-Tip.

I'm most familiar with his most recent work especially this record with Detroit based Will Sessions.

I love that pic of of him holding a bag while rolling a joint and Tom Petty sitting next to him. Bet he had some great stories.

I don’t know that it’s fair to say there are no freeform DJs….just not on the traditional big FM stations but there are left of the dial, right?

Even 1985-1987 living in California it felt like rock stations were pretty formulaic…I mean even the big ones like KOME or KFOG and this was in San Francisco

Laura Lynch, founding member of The Dixie Chicks, dies in car crash in Texas

She recorded three albums with the group before leaving. Natalie Maines replaced her in the band.
