Michael Reidy, (The) Razz front man

Michael Reidy, the whirling dervish singer of Razz, one of D.C.’s most popular bands, has died, at age 73, according to a family member.

I have lived in the DMV since 1997 and have been reading this DC music board since the early 2000's, and have literally never heard of this band. A quick search shows that they have never been mentioned here. May he Rest in Prominence.

RAZZ is well known by people who like care about local music. Tommy Keene was briefly in the band. At a time when all DC seemed to produce was rockabilly and roots music Razz where a breath of fresh air…maybe new wavey? I have an early single of theirs…I think they had a connection to Yesterday and Today Records. Of course Seth was Tommy’s manager later on….around 1982… I think

They were one of those bands that's legendary, but they didn't put out much music, so they're easily overlooked. Check out the documentary that came out a while back. I caught it at AFI and the place was packed.

I remember DC101 broadcasting one of their shows, back when we had proper radio stations.
