I went out to see him headline KROQ Inland Invasion in September 2004, which he ended up canceling, and what was the rescheduled date?  October 31, 2004, hmmmmmm.

Thank gawd they're the last two dates of the tour, sick of chasing his ass over to England to finish it off each time, finally some reciprocal love.

Just re-read that, could be misinterpreted, or fodder for a Smackie barrage, but those that know me will understand so phuck it.

As bummed as the original cancelations were earlier this summer,  these two dates are perfect for my ridiculous schedule in October/November, couldn't have been better if I picked them myself.  Excellent phucking news, all and all this has been a great weekend  :D

Now here's the funny thing for myself. I'd rather see him at Rams Head Live because it's much smaller than DAR. But if I keep my ticket for the RH show, I'd have to figure out how to get there. I go to UMD, and I don't have a car while at school. It's like I see him in a small venue with the challenge of trying to find a ride or I sell that ticket, take the risk of getting a decent seat at the DAR (last time he was there, i had terrible seats!) and ride the metro. With option 2, I know I have a ride but I might have a shitty seat and well, it's not as cool as seeing him on halloween.

The conventional wisdom is that Rams Head is a great venue due to it's capacity.  Thing is in practice it CAN BE a great venue, when it's not sold out there is plenty of room and you can find a decent spot to watch a show.  But when packed it is less than desirable place to see someone, the sightlines can be horrible, the venue has a weird flow with a set of gradations of flat to small step up tiers flowing toward the back and out to the side where the main bar is.   When full to capacity this is less than ideal.  Also for extremely sold out shows they open the balconies, and again is a weird configuration that is less than ideal, and the sound can also be hit or miss if your in one of the funky corners or up top.

So if you're able to score a ticket in the first section of DAR on the the floor in front of the stage you will have much better sight, sound, and freedom of movement.  Rams Head will be like a herd of cattle.  So dancing for all but the most physical, and obnoxious will be non-existent, just no room.  Also to consider,  it will be a sauna in there, I can't remember if they have a coat check or not, but that time of year, packed with people wearing layers of clothes and little breathing room, will make for a very sweaty patron.

I'll have tickets to both, and will go to both, but the combination of space, being a Friday, public transportation,  and the fact that it's the last tour date overall would have me recommend DAR for anyone who can only do one.

And anyone thinking I'm sandbagging for tickets with this recommendation, I already have mine for Ramshead so I'm just trying to give an honest assessment for those who haven't been to a sold-out show there.

As far as it being halloween, I've NEVER gotten how people think they're seeing something special because it takes place on Halloween, it's just another phuckin day and happens to be a Wednesday this year.  But at the Halloween 2004 show, Moz did wear a Priest's outfit, with the band coming out in friar wear.  But this would NOT be a reason to favor one show over the other IMO.  Unless of course you consider the dumb assess that are going to dress up that night making the previous point about  being packed like sardines that night even more salient.

i saw moz on halloween years ago. i dont remember it being anything special. so - bncyed - which date (as i cant do all of them due to costs) would make the most sense to get tix to. im seeing the shout out louds on friday night, so that date is def ruled out. i was thinking sunday night - the last night of his nyc shows. or if theyre reasonable enough maybe 2 nights.

btw - does hammerstein have pit tix? never been to a show there, and last performance i saw there, the floor was all seats.

and i wonder if those dates are right, because according to hammerstein the hip are playing the 23rd and 24th. unless morrissey and the tragically hip are playing together, dont know how this will work out.

It's kind of weird, not exactly "PIT" tickets, there's a main floor and two balconies.  It's possible to have seated shows there though I've never been to one.  I don't like the place that much, but as long as you get on the floor, and in your case there early, you should be fine.

I have Iceland Airwaves & Voodoo so no NYC shows for me, but the DC area shows are perfect.

thanks! im noticing shows are a bit bizarre as far as tix are (with the 2 levels). def. want to be on the floor. assumng i see 2 shows - and the dates are somewhat correct - which 2 dates would you go. 2 in a row - or spread them out? im thinking sunday is def one of them, although if he loses his voice, maybe thats a bad idea and should have an earlier date too... thoughts  :)   tia!

I'd do whichever two would allow the most flexibility, that's going to be a busy time right after CMJ so there's going to be a lot of shit going on...you don't won't to pin yourself in with two expensive tickets at the detriment of a cool cheaper show on the same dates so I'd plan carefully based on those considerations.  My statement about the resked DC dates provide a case in point, I forgot Nada Surf is playing a teeny club in Baltimore the night of the final Moz show in DC, so all I can say is phuck!

Do we have ticket price/on-sale information for the DAR show? I want to go to this.

there is a coat check at Rams Head Live.  and if you drove there, chances are you could park in the parking garage right there (or the one right next to it) and really not have to walk very far to get to the club.

plus, after the show you could always hop over to Fells Point and enjoy all that is the craziness of a Baltimore  Halloween!

It's never happening.  $75 million???!!!!

I gotta say . . . . I at least respect the man.  Plus he really cares about his fans.

Morrissey Rewards Diehards, Quashes Smiths Reunion

 August 23, 2007, 11:40 AM ET

 Jonathan Cohen, N.Y.
Morrissey is taking special care of his most devoted fans on his upcoming fall North American tour, which, as previously reported, begins Sept. 20 in Tijuana, Mexico.

A number of special opportunities have been created for multiple-night runs in Los Angeles and New York, including a "seasons ticket," with a reduced price for fans that want to attend every show.

For a 10-night stand at L.A.'s Palladium, a package with tickets to each show will be sold for the price of nine and will allow fans early entry to the venue, which will be closed for renovation following Morrissey's performances. This package goes on sale Monday (Aug. 27) and will only be available through Sept. 5.

For a five-show stint at New York's Hammerstein Ballroom, fans attending every night will save $125 off the combined face value of the tickets, and will receive early entry and a commemorative poster. On-sale dates have yet to be announced.

In addition, Morrissey's publicist has confirmed the artist refused a $75 million offer to tour under the Smiths name in 2008 and/or 2009, with the only mandate being that Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr would be part of the band. The Smiths also declined a multi-million dollar offer to perform in recent years at the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival in Indio, Calif.

He gets along with Marr!  (Well, as much as Morrissey can "get along" with anyone.)

It's Joyce and Rourke he hates.
