rhett, unfortunately, that was not me.  did they make you wait in the second-class section of howard hospital?

however, i was assaulted with ice cubes at a cracker show once.  there can be an oddly violent element at these shows and that makes no sense to me at all.  (i'd expect it at, say, motorhead.)

that one made my list.  definitely one of the most fun shows i've been to.  the bears totally made the show.  unfortunately i'm assuming i'll never have the chance to see aphex twin live again.

i'm feeling the same about autechre too.

yeah! I was there. On the 1965 tour. They dropped the whole feather boa type schtick that had been prevalent all tour & just rocked.

Exactly. They went back to the core group (plus Josh the keyboardist) and went wild. They even played "Faded" and brought out "Retarded"!

I was up front and center at that show with a couple of folks from the Whigs mailing list.

Smashing Pumpkins '99
 Blur '03
 Air '04
 Flaming Lips/Sparklehorse '03

I can't think of a definitive fifth. Maybe Claypool's Frog Brigade, maybe Placebo/Stellastarr.

1998/09/09 Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds (who opened?)
 2002/03/18 Bush/Default
 2002/10/20 Sleater-Kinney/The Quails/V for Vendetta
 2003/10/20 The Mars Volta/Saul Williams
 2004/06/09 Wilco/The M's

Runners up (in no particular order):
 2002/01/30 The Charlatans UK/Starsailor
 2002/04/30 Garbage/Abandoned Pools
 2004/04/01 The Crystal Method/DJ Hyper
 2004/04/22 Sleater-Kinney/The Thermals

Only been hitting the local concert scene for a few years obviously. Wish I had a time machine so I could go back and see the great concerts I've missed at the 9:30 Club, like the Smashing Pumpkins, Radiohead, R.E.M., the White Stripes, Flaming Lips, et al.

I just remembered when I saw the Charlatans UK in 1994 on the "Up To Our Hips" tour, that was pretty awesome, so was Smashing Pumpkins w/Swervedriver in 1993. It seems as though there used to be some pretty amazing double bills years ago, you don't see that quite as much anymore. It was great to see the Jesus and Mary Chain w/Curve and Spiritualized, the Cocteau Twins w/Galaxie 500, Urge Overkill w/Eugenius. All great, great shows.
