Is that the DOA/GI/Dag Nasty show when the club was still WUST?  That one was pretty amazing.  I'm pretty sure that was Dag Nasty's first show.

A couple that come to mind:

Afghans Whigs - Sept '99 [mentioned above]

 Afghan Whigs - June '96 w/Howlin' Maggie

 James - Feb '97

Buffalo Tom - Feb '96 (8-10 inches of snow that afternoon)

Jeff Buckley - not sure of date - I believe it was his last appearance at the old club though.

 Drive-by Truckers - September 24, 2004
(I saw them last night. If it's any indication - we're in for a real treat during this one. They are definitely no longer the same band that I've seen many times over the last few years in small dingy bars. But this isn't necesarily a bad thing: They are much more accomplished musicians - Jason Isbell is a rising star - and they are a bit more polished. They're gonna rock the club.)

Another notable show - I guess - was the Counting Crows first time @ the old club. This was right before their 1st record broke big. It was VERY COLD night - The Gov't actually closed because it was so cold & icy. Only about 200 people there. We were standing right up front and kept getting dripped on by the sweat from Duritz's rasta extensions. Oh - & George Stephanopoulos was there. Rockin' the vote.

JSBX/JesusLizard/SoCulture/CiboMatto NYE 97
 Afghan Whigs June '96
 Afghan Whigs Sept '99
 Coldplay
Don't know if this one counts though...
Smashing Pumpkins when it was still the WUST (or whatever it was called)

The Verve -- Fall of 1997
BRMC/Warlocks -- Hurricane show last year
X with the Fags -- last year I think
The Verve -- Summer of 1995, old club
Doves with a great opener by the unknown Strokes

 Honorables:
That Stereophonic/Charlatan show was pretty damn good
The first Polyphonic Spree show last summer was great
 Guided By Voices -- 2002 I think
Grandaddy, but not the one with SFA
The 1997 New Years Eve ball with JSBE, Jesus Lizard and Southern Culture kicked ass
Motorhead last year was really good
Urge Overkill at the old club was memorable, as was Monster Magnet shortly thereafter

I'd give up a finger to have been at either.

O.k. - well...maybe just a small chunk of flesh. Something not so needed. Like maybe an earlobe.

Im suprised how many people here attended the Afghan Whigs set in September 1999.  To this day, I think that was one of the most amazing shows I have ever been to!  The Whigs need to get back together.  Though Twilight is great, and playing a whigs cover encore is sweet, nothing beats the slide guitar the whigs had...

 so yeah...

 1) Afghan Whigs Sept 99
 2) Lemonheads & Ben Lee 2/97
 3) Versus (opening for yo la tengo) 99?
 4) Hum '98 (my friend got his nose broken there)
 5) Ben Kweller Summer 2002
 6) Smashing Pumpkins 99 (Fuckin' SOMA baby!)
 7) Weird Al in July '04

 worst shows:
 1) Bebel Gilberto (yeah like a month ago)
 2) The Vines (Summer 2002)
 3) Matchbox 20 opening for the Lemonheads 2/97 (anyone remember the guy that whipped it out onstage??? and Evan throwing ice cubes at the band??? haha)

There are so many good ones....let's see...these aren't in any particular order.

 1. Radiohead - OK Computer tour. The played a f**king club...and I saw them. 'nuff said.
 2. Elliott Smith - Figure 8 tour. The last time I ever saw him. What a loss...
 3. Counting Crows - late 1997. It was the first time I saw this band live. I had no idea Adam Duritz was so captivating live.
 4. The Verve Pipe - Villains tour. it's easy to poo-poo this band but they put on a great live show. The best part was hanging out with Jeff Ament before the show.
 5. Polyphonic Spree - just a few weeks ago. My first time. I drank the koolaid and I believe.

Notables....Radiohead on the Bends tour. I had no idea what I was in for. Billy Idol kicked my ass on the last time through, too. Ben Folds and Bettie Serveert. Too drunk to remember much of it, though so it doesn't make the top 5  :)

coldplay 2001
 nerd/black eyed peas 2004
 chemical brothers 1999
 groove armada 2003

odd mix, but the shows were stellar on all levels-crowd, sound, song selection, musicianship, etc.

 Spiritualized- 2002
 Garbage w/ Abandon Pools -2001
Velvet Revolver (yeah, bring  it.  That show rocked.)

 Honorable Mentions-
 Hot Snakes- 2002
Unknown Interpol opening for Clinic - 2001
