this has been talked about since i was in college .. like 2002ish. it's pretty awful and i'm hoping to god never gets made.
 
 full disclosure - i think goonies is terribly overrated anyway. i was more of a fan of mosnter squad.

I think Goonies came out just the second I aged out of its target demo. It seems like everyone I know who's barely younger than me has seen it.

There's this old theatre on Cary St. in Richmond that shows old movies every Saturday at midnight. EVERY time they show the Goonies I go see it.

Well, the Lost Boys sequel is sort of one of those straight-to-DVD/cash grabs that hardly has any connection or cast from the original.  
 
 However, I heard somewhere that Donner might even direct this Goonies sequel since it has almost all of the original cast.  So it's more of a Chinatown/Two Jakes kind of thing.
 
 And I think the Nightmare on Elm Street thing is more of a prequel that explains how Freddy was the "Springwood Slasher" but I could be wrong.
 
  You'd be amazed at what they've made sequels to.  I mean "Open Water 2?"  "Point Break 2?"  "Beetlejuice 2?!?!?!?!"
