Bruce NEVER has an opener; unless you count that Voters for Change tour he was a part of, which of course wasnt a Bruce Tour.  If this is anything like the last two tours with The ESB expect them to hit the stage around 8:15/8:30 and play between 2 and
 2 1/2 hours.

Should be a fun time, Bags. Expect that he'll be on for a good 3 hours. It doesn't feel like it's that long though.

Which night are you going?  I'll be there Sunday.   I just realized that I have Monday off, too.   :)

The Philadelphia show was around 2 and 1/4 hrs.  8:20 to 10:30ish.

Sunday's show here starts at 7:30, so an early night for all.

Ugh - never mind

 GENERAL ADMISSION: HOW IT'LL WORK
With opening night just 24 hours away, we've gotten official word from the Springsteen organization regarding G.A. entry for the North American leg. Before we get to the nitty-gritty details, let's do an overview. The entire floor for each show will be general admission, with no reserved seating (actually, no seating at all). The G.A. floor is divided up into two sections by a rail: a smaller area directly in front of the stage (commonly known as "the pit"), and a larger open area behind it. A special wristband, distributed to a few hundred people as determined by lottery, will be required for access to the pit. Here's how it happens.

     * Numbered G.A. wristbands (not pit wristbands) will be given out at the venue between 2:00 and 5:00 p.m. All G.A. ticketholders who show up between those times will get one.
     * At 5:15, the lottery occurs: a random number will be drawn, and the person with that number on their wristband will be at the front of the line for entry onto the floor.
     * Line-up starts at 5:30, in order by wristband number. If there were 600 wristbands given out and the random number drawn was 536, then people with wristbands numbered 536-600 will be at the front of the line, with 1-535 behind them.
     * The line will enter the venue whenever they're ready to open the doors. The first x number of people in this line (x being a few hundred, will likely vary by venue) will get a second wristband for pit entry. Everyone else, including those G.A. ticketholders who can't get there until after 5:00, can stake out a spot on the main floor.

That's general info from backstreets.com.  I guess the dc-specific info may be a bit different.

The 50 yr old regulars Fooer speaks of who take the day off and pretend its 1980 again, and then get in shoving matches because they are 50 and not 24 and dont like people touching them/invading their space.  They even go so far to calling the area closest to the stage "The Pit"; like they are at a Slayer show or something.

Below is the link to the logistics for the show in St Paul, MN the other day..

***** GENERAL ADMISSION FLOOR PIT LOTTERY *****

The Bruce Springsteen GA floor is divided into 2 areas. The lottery procedure determines access to the smaller front pit area.  If you are not interested in trying to gain access to the front GA pit area - it is not necessary to partipate in the lottery procedure. Your ticket will be valid for the remaining floor area at the time the regular gates open

On the day of the show, sequentially numbered wristbands will be distributed at Gate 1 of the Xcel Energy Center beginning at 2:00 PM. Wristbands will be distributed until 5:00 PM. Wristbands will be issued and affixed to the patron's wrist only after the patron's ticket has been verified a GA ticket.  One wristband per patron. Wristbands are non-transferable. No wristbands will be distributed after 5:00 PM. Drawing will take place at 5:30.  Additional information will be forthcoming with wristband.

PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT NO PATRON, FAN, OR CLUB RUN LIST WILL BE HONORED BY TOUR PERSONNEL, SECURITY OR BUILDING PERSONNEL!

The above procedures will be implemented and supervised by touring personnel and are subject to change at discretion of tour/venue.

Here's the official word from the Verizon Center:

 http://www.verizoncenter.com/news/springsteen_070917.shtml

Sequentially numbered wristbands will be distributed to general admission (GA) ticket holders on the day of the show, between 2:00pm and 5:00pm, on the 6th Street side of Verizon Center. For those ticket holders that arrive after 5:00pm, non-sequential GA wristbands will be distributed. A starting number will be randomly chosen by a fan at 5:15pm. This number will be announced and displayed at the 6th Street entrance. The fan holding the wristband that matches the starting number drawn will be the first in line (i.e., if numbers 1-100 were issued and number 10 was drawn, the line would start with 10, then 11, 12, 13 through 100, followed by 1 -9).

The purpose of the random number wristband distribution is to insure that all fans have the same chance of being first in line, eliminating the need to arrive early.

At 5:30pm two lines will be formed: one for the front GA pit and one for the remaining GA floor area. Patrons will be let in the building starting at 5:50 p.m., ten minutes prior to the general public at 6:00 p.m.

Doors for the general public will open at 6:00pm.

 ======

Thanks for the tip on the GA lottery.  I hadn't heard anything about that.

for a general idea of what pit vs main GA will look like, peep  this (then have a look  here to get an idea of what the whole floor looks like).  the pit area is no more than a fifth (probably less) of the GA section.  so the real advantage of winning the pit lottery is not being crushed against the rail, it's the opportunity to grab a great spot at the back of the pit - 20 feet back from the stage, nice and comfy, with some elbow room.  only place you're going to get that in the main GA area is 200+ feet away from the stage, i.e. the back of the section.

You can't talk like that on this message board.  Most of the people on this board regard BRUUUUUUUCCCCCCE!!! as the second coming.

 Bruce is forever young.

 Bruce = rock and roll.

 Bruce will never die.

 All hail the mighty Bruce!

 You are not allowed to:

 1.)  Mock him.
 2.)  Question his relevancy.
3.)  Make fun of his stupid Sesame Street-like lyrics.
 4.)  Question his patriotism.
5.)  Reveal that he may be the most boring, overrated "rock star" of the 20th century.
6.)  Look him directly in the eyes.
7.)  Suggest that a Novocain-less root canal would be a more pleasant evening than a 97-hour "religious experience/tent revival" with Bruce, "Little Steven" and "The Big Man."

For your transgressions prepare to be derided, made fun of and threatened with expulsion from the board.

 Brian
