Just back in town.  Saw the show from Section 5 and I thought it was pretty good.  They sounded a little out of sych on a few songs...but it could have been the large stadium effect.

Best Part - "Can't Stand Losing You".  Sounded fantastic.  Reminds me what an awesome group they are.

Worst Part - Getting the fuck out of the parking lot.  They make the folks at Nissan look like geniuses.  More than 2 hours to get out.

So did I...this gnawing desire to rip her head off her body and see if her body still did the annoying twirly dancing without being told to do so by the brain.

While I so enjoyed revisiting that 'tattered and torn' apocalyptic era Police video (THANKS for that!), it's really not relevant to compare one band's FINAL video to another band's FIRST video.  Of course the Nirvana video is whimsical and lacks seriousness or self-importance.  They were a bunch of Seattle kids who never knew they'd be insanely successful.

Sting is definitely a self-important prig.  He's WAY hotter than Dave Grohl, but I'll take self-effacing Grohl any day....

The secret is to park at Shakey's and then walk about a mile right across the park into Hershey (the town.)  Go right out.  Unfortunately, I didn't do that this time.  I actually slept in my car for about an hour then it took me also another hour to get out of the parking lot.

Hey, it could have been worse.  You could have been there the next night:

 from mtv.com:

"Cops working the John Mayer concert at Hersheypark Stadium in Hershey, Pennsylvania, were busy on Saturday, arresting 63 fans, according to The Patriot-News. Among the arrests were 46 for underage drinking; 14 for disorderly conduct; and three each for public drunkenness, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia."

Question, how do I find out the show information for Police on Friday at Madison Square Garden?  I can't find anything anywhere.  Is there an opener?

Only information I can get is from TicketMaster, which says:

 BEST BUY PRESENTS
 THE POLICE
 LIVE IN CONCERT
 MADISON SQUARE GARDEN
 NO CAMERAS/RECORDERS
 WED OCT 31, 2007 8:00PM

Does that mean doors at 8:00, etc.

Thanks to anyone who has advice.

The opening band is Fiction Plane featuring Sting's son.  You may or may not get The Fratelli's as well, I'm not sure.

And it's been years since I've been to a show at MSG so I'm not sure if that's start time or door opening time.  If I had to guess, that's show start time, with doors opening at 7.

Show starts at 8.  Almost positive Fiction Plane are the openers, but you could get something extra with it being New York & all.  You'll have a great time.

per the msg website - www.thegarden.com:

 Door Opening Times
Doors for MSG Arena and Theater events open one hour prior to event start time. If you are attending a Knicks, Rangers, or Liberty game and are in possession of Club tickets, you may enter the Play by Play, The Club Bar and Grill, and The Garden Terrace two hours prior to game time. Reservations are not required to dine in the Play by Play, however, you must call 212-465-6290 to make reservations for The Club Bar and Grill. For more information on these restaurants, please click here.

btw - they also have a # you may wanna call, if you dont wanna see the opener. and i think its only fiction plane opening - they dont list anyone else, and they do keep their website pretty up to date.

 EVENT INFO
For up to date information on Madison Square Garden events please call 212.465.MSG1 (6741)

btw - considering the fratellis are playing at lolla on friday, dont know how theyd also be playing in nyc unless they play their set and race back here.

I'm holding out for something great at the Black Cat at the moment.  I'm not the biggest fan Kings of Leon or Rilo Kiley, but I don't hate them so if enough boardies are there, I'll do it for the moment. [/b]
just got my rilo kiley tix, should be a good show

That's awesome.  I had a similar situation once for Natalie Merchant at the Greek Theater, but we had four tickets.  So she took two and I took two.  She brought her best friend.  I brought my ex-girlfriend, the one before her.  They left about half way through - we stayed for the whole show. [/b]
