Anyone excited about the World Baseball Classic?
« on: February 28, 2006, 02:53:00 pm »
Being Dominican I'm obviously awaiting the start by the minute...the pitching is thin but the batting order will be superb for us...I take it Smackie, Rhett and Hoya might care...don't know if there are any other baseball fans here...

It's hard to get really excited about it when the majority of the players aren't that excited about it.  And I'm not just talking about the US players...

Of course, I'm excited for the start of baseball so I'm looking forward to it.  I think this tourney is 12-20 years away from mattering though.

I'm interested in a curious sort of way. I'll be watching.

I'm also looking forward to baseball season. I already have tickets for Fenway, Wrigley, and whatever the White Sox are currently calling their stadium. I also plan on seeing Mariners, Orioles, and Nationals home games this year.

It will really come down to pitching..,at an all-star caliber level we only have Bartolo Colon and Pedro if he can with his bummed toe..

our line-up may look like this:

 Alfonso Soriano-2b
 Miggy Tejada-SS
 Albert Pujols-1B
 Big Papi- DH
 Vladi- CF
 Manny (if he shows up)-RF
 Moises ALou-LF
 Aramis Ramirez/Adrian Beltre-3b (thanks! A-Rod)
 ALberto Castillo-C (no talent there)

the bench has some speedsters and very good role players...relief pitching is good..concerned about starting pitching but seeing as there will be a 75pitch limit for starters, mid-relievers and a good bullpen will be more important...

lets put a couple of Guiness behind this as a friendly wager Sal...

well, the geniuses at ESPN bought the rights to play all the games to a tournament that is scheduled over Championship Week for basketball.

thats why you wont see much on ESPN or ESPN2 until the 10th or 11th.

yeah, and the quarterfinals and semifinals going on while the 1st 2 rounds of the NCAAs???  how stupid.

I would just like to know how excited everyone is about the Orioles getting beaten down again this year?? No moves in the offseason to amount to shit and a disgruntled superstar to boot, this team is going to roll to a wonderful, enchanting well below .500 season once again! Thanks Peter Angelo for treating the fans to another lackluster season of misery! We love ya,Buddy!
