Also, lots of you are already asking about our annual CMJ BBQ and showcase in NYC.  The dates are October 24th and 25th.  We are still firming up line ups, times, and clubs, but we can tell you this:  Friday night is in Manhattan, and Saturday afternoon is in Brooklyn.  Scheduled to show up that weekend are Bobby Bare Jr, Trailer Bride, Split Lip Rayfield, Waco Brothers, Paul Burch, Deanoâ??s new band Dollar Store,  Thâ?? Legendary Shack*Shakers, and Wayne Hancock.  We will post further details when we have them.

I dunno she is touring w/ Graham Colton Band and they have better hair.
I'm sorry I didn't bold the NYC and Philly dates. Alas, I still would have triggered you.

What's up with Franz Ferdinand playing the Target Center and the Rose Garden?  These are 20,000 seat arenas.

Even if they do add a DC date, I would bet it's at Patriot Center.

Yes!! F**king awesome rock and roll! I'm not familiar with Hopewell but a High Dials show is cause for celebration. I'm just surprised they're playing the Velvet Lounge. Their last show there was packed and I'm sure more people will show up this time around. DC9 would have been a better choice.

Pitchfork is saying that show is at the Black Cat.  They also say that Hopewell is playing with Brian Jonestown Massacre on August 4th at Velvet Lounge.

Bitchfork is just plain wrong. Both Hopewll shows,VL and BC will be with High Dials. BJM will be with Hopewell for the Boston And Bowery shows ony at this point.Hopewell, High Dials elsewhere on the same night as BJM at DC9 is a real drag. Should be some after party though. BJM should be back for the last gig of the tour in LA on the 18th. I may definitey try to make the Hopewll, High Dials on the 18th at the Black Cat,as it is my birthday.

i noticed those venues as well.  i saw them at the verizon theater in houston last year.  it wasn't sold out, it wasn't in the 'full house' config and while i enjoyed the set, i commented that i don't know if i could see them getting a whole lot bigger than that.  i don't know how big the houston venue was, but it was in its general admission setup, meaning none of the seats around the floor were open at all.
just weir that they're playing such big places.

A short update to this. I posted about this on the High Dials forum and Rishi replied. He said "Every other venue in town is booked for the 18th... sorry! I guess it'll be a very intimate show"

So it sounds like they tried. Ah, well...

They also sold out the 930 club last year quite easily, and they've been hyped waaay more since then. I'm not surprised at all that they're playing  bigger venues now... but 20,000 does seem *kinda* big. Then again, the Killers (comparable?) headlined and sold out Merriweather which is almost that size

the show i saw was 3 months after the 930 club show.  and yeah, i guess it's ridiculous that the killers sold out merriweather.  i wouldn't go see them for free and i seriously don't understand the appeal.  i guess it's another spice girls thing.

I remember seeing the Killers open for Ambulance Ltd. who were opening for Stellastarr* at Alley Katz in Feb. 2004. Ridiculous how much acclaim that band has won - and how much more absurd looking they've become - in the interim.
