I've heard good things about the Cribs. Anybody think it's worth going to? [/b]
The Cribs are totally fun. In the same way that Supergrass (or the 60 Foot Dolls) were a young, adrenalized take on Britpop ten years ago, the Cribs are kind of the same thing compared to all the new UK guitar bands. It's not great art, but the tunes are very catchy and delivered with gusto. They certainly have the right components: fighting brothers, laddish talk about birds'n'pints, and short and punchy pop songs,
I really disliked Giant Drag's show a few months ago, but I must admit that some of the songs on the new record are really good. Kevin is Gay has a Mazzy Star/MBV vibe to it that's really appealing.
Nine Black Alps kind of reminds me a lot of the second- and third-tier Britpop bands like Feeder, Ocean Colour Scene and Ash.
