I've heard good things about the Cribs. Anybody think it's worth going to? [/b]
I think all three shows are worth going to (especially Hard-Fi!). For the one you asked about, I'm mainly going for The Cribs. (I do not like Giant Drag.) I saw them at a tiny club show during CMJ and loved their raw energy. Not life changing or anything, but a rockin good time.

Lots of comparisons to Nirvana. I saw them last January (2005) and thought they seemed a little immature. They needed some experience. I'll be curious to see how they've developed.

The Cribs are totally fun. In the same way that Supergrass (or the 60 Foot Dolls) were a young, adrenalized take on Britpop ten years ago, the Cribs are kind of the same thing compared to all the new UK guitar bands. It's not great art, but the tunes are very catchy and delivered with gusto. They certainly have the right components: fighting brothers, laddish talk about birds'n'pints, and short and punchy pop songs,

I really disliked Giant Drag's show a few months ago, but I must admit that some of the songs on the new record are really good. Kevin is Gay has a Mazzy Star/MBV vibe to it that's really appealing.

Nine Black Alps kind of reminds me a lot of the second- and third-tier Britpop bands like Feeder, Ocean Colour Scene and Ash.

Nine Black Alps are definitely Nirvana-lite, the Cribs used to be quite lo-fi and obscure but have gone a bit poppier on their last album w/o losing their edge, nothing special but a good 3 bands to see together, i'm there.

Hard-fi have got a ska-dub rock sound to them.  Not really ska at all though.  Their album is actually amazingly good when you consider that it was recorded in one of the band member's own home for about 300 quid.  They were nominated for a Mercury award this past year.  I'm there as well.

The Cribs opened for the Kaiser Chiefs last summer.

 They were solid.

Yes!  I was just about to make a request in the "Hey Seth" thread about a Ray Davies show.
