Silversun Pickups are no longer on Recher Theatre website.  Tickets haven't been on Ticketmaster for a while and nothing on SSPU's Myspace.
 Anyone know what's up?

Just called the Recher Theater.  They said Silversun Pickups are still playing there on May 13th, just that tickets are not yet on sale.

 Stay tuned.

ok gals and guys it's come to my attention that the Just Announced thread is getting a bit cluttered these days with commentary.... since this thread is where people come to get info on upcoming shows it would be nice if they didn't have to wade through the commentary as well.. so start another thread if ya have something burning inside to say on something posted here.

thanks and post safe out there today

Legendary rock band The Police will play in Baltimore Aug. 4 as part of the city's Virgin Festival lineup, according to sources familiar with the event.

Landing the Police, the platinum-selling group led by vocalist Sting that dissolved in the mid-1980s and recently announced a reunion, will be a coup for
the city. Virgin Festival promoters are expected to make a formal announcement about the event, which will be held over two days in August at Pimlico Race
Course, Thursday morning in New York. The announcement will include at least two other headline bands who will play at Pimlico.

The Baltimore Business Journal first reported last month that the Virgin Festival could return to Pimlico featuring the Police as one of the headline acts.

The Business Journal also reported that local concert promoters were working with Pimlico to make the Virgin Festival an annual event at Pimlico.

Richard Branson's Virgin Festival chose Baltimore in 2006 as the first U.S. location for its musical event which debuted in the U.K. Two Canadian cities,
Vancouver and Toronto, will host the Virgin Festival this year, featuring Chicago alternative band the Smashing Pumpkins and the Killers, who played in
Baltimore last year. Last year's Virgin Festival in Baltimore also featured the Who, Thievery Corporation and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

For fear of being labeled an insecure dolt, or slef-loathing hipster douchebag, I'll choose my words carefully. If you live in NYC, you can have the pleasure of seeing Drive By Truckers for free this summer. If you live in DC, you can have the pleasure of driving to West Virginia and paying a hundred bucks to see them play a shortened set on the same bill as a bunch of wonderful jam bands.
