Or, if they are generalizing by stating "Washington, DC" it could be at Patriot...or, who does Meyerhoff use?

What's so bad about the Patriot Center (other than the fact that it's big)?

My main problem is that it's in BFE, but it's also a sound killer.  If you're lucky & careful you can find the sweet spot, but there are usually a bunch of teenage knuckleheads from the burbs that are occupying prime real estate.  I think there's also an issue about being confined to pen to drink.  It's flawed in many ways, though Depeche Mode, Foo Fighters, Bush, Travis, Smashing Pumpkins, and Prince were all decent shows I've seen out there.  It's just not optimal, don't understand why Merriweather wasn't an option it has open dates, it is freakin August and would have been a hell of alot more convenient for the band as well as for me:)

well, if it's any consolation, they're playing philly the next night so you're free to trek up there (actually, considering that it's a friday and philly is probably closer for you than the patriot center, it would be the right choice for you anyways.  also means more/better seats for me on the 9th   :)  ) [/b]
It's all yours, living in Baltimore I can be in Philly a hell of lot faster and easier than Fairfax.  And the Pier is far more appealing than a muffled warehouse in August. But again I'm still glad they booked the show, even if it doesn't work for me.

Mapquest says B'more to Fairfax=66 mins and B'more to Philly=113 minutes.

I said I can GET to Philly a hell of a lot faster and easier, not drive.  But given the right circumstances I believe I could drive faster as well.  Being a Thursday evening, the traffic going out to Patriot center and the drive back home coupled with early morning commute the next day would be the death of me.  On Friday I can just jump on Amtrak and be in Philly in a couple of hours while enjoying a couple of beers while someone else stresses about getting me there.  So for me it's a better option, for others that like that extra time in their car and don't have long commutes, I'm sure it's fine and more power to 'em.  I try to take public transport whenever possible, if they had reliable links to George Mason that would solve half the problem, but wouldn't do shit for the sound, drinking restrictions, or 14 year olds (and their parents) that make that experience undesirable IMHO.  It's also "easier" for me to go see the White Stripes in Myrtle Beach, if that's any indication where my mindset is.

You lucky west coast bastards. I know there are a few on here.
I'm not entirely sure we got a good deal in SF with the show being on the 4th of July, but I get the point.

HOLY FUCKING SHIT.  I'm spending all of July taking classes at RISD and those are DURING THE WEEK WHICH MEANS I CAN'T GO SEE THEM BECAUSE I WILL MISS MY CLASSES AND CURSE THE WORLD, GOD IS OUT TO GET ME!!!!

but thanks for the update anyway.
i would pay a lot more than $18 to see Sha Sha performed live in its entirety.  great album.

Ben Kweller has announced a special, three-night stand in Brooklyn, NY, on each night of which he plans to perform a different album in its entirety.

Scheduled to take place at Southpaw, the shows will feature Kweller performing "Sha Sha" on July 30, "On My Way" on July 31 and "Ben Kweller" on Aug. 1. Ticket prices are set at $18 for a single night ($20 day of show), and three-day passes are set at $50 apiece, according to a press release, which adds that three-day pass-holders will receive a "a private hang with the band." More information is available at  Kweller's website .

Ditto on some of the the complaints...Re: the sound & views, if you get a good seat, it's somewhat decent, otherwise, it's flat and you do have to deal w/ the kiddies singing in your ear.
MPP is not convenient for me at all. Why would it be for artists?

Meyerhoff would be B-more, but he did play there for Cold Roses.

I was just taking the piss really, I suppose only more convenient in that since they had to play philly the next day they could probably stay up in new york/philly area and just pop in for the show at MPP then go back up.  I'm not big on MPP either, I only go to shows that have a pit area then it's not bad.  I hate driving out there, and when I lived in DC it was miserable but living in MD it's slightly better.

Twilight Sad 7/17 Sonar club stage

Would be curious to see them as a headliner. When they opened for battles at the black cat, the sound seemed off. Their album is decent, though.
