Did you see their headlining show at the 9:30 Club in July 2006 or their second-billing, quasi-co-headlining show (with Stellastarr*) in March 2006? I'm betting you saw the headlining show in July 2006, because if you had seen the show in March 2006, you'd surely be telling a different story. They "slayed" at the March show, one of the best performances I've ever seen at the 9:30 Club. For whatever reason, their headlining show in July was somewhat disappointing in comparison. It was still a very good show, but not quite up to the bar set by their March 2006 show. Maybe they just had an off night or our expectations were too high or something. I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt, and I'm looking forward to seeing them again. What I've heard of the new album is pretty good, I think.

 This is a seated show.
 THU. JUL. 26
 $15.00

For those not in the know, The Swell Season is Glen Hansard (The Frames) and Marketa Irglova, the duo from the movie Once.

I'm guessing the show is like the movie only without all the dialogue.  Man, without an SF date, I may make a trip to DC for this show.  I could do without seats though.
Thanks so much for pointing this out! I just bought a ticket for it. It somehow slipped below my radar. I adored Once and have since bought the soundtrack....

From clicking on the flyers in your post and viewing their respective websites I see Gotan Project is playing at the Osheaga Festival (Sept. 8-9) in Montreal, and that Bjork is playing that same weekend at the Toronto Virgin Festival.

I wish Gotan Project and Bjork would come to D.C.!  Gotan Project's show at the 9:30 Club in 2003 was fantastic.  And I've never seen Bjork, but was impressed by the clip of her performance in the recent Glastonbury documentary.

Do you we get a Robinson on vocals?  Bless his heart, but Robert can't hit all the notes anymore...especially for an entire tour.   Talking about going full circle, my first major gig was Led Zepplin, with an opening set by the band that would be my favorite until jr. high Judas Priest. [/b]
I'm there.  Period.

Christine, you and the rest of humanity wish that.  Unfortunately with Bjork, you have to go to her, she seldoms comes to you......as far as Gotan Project I can't fathom them not playing a show in the area in the Sept/Oct time frame, stay tuned.....fyi.  Osheaga was originally scheduled for Labor day weekend, but they switched up to take advantage of some of Virgin's acts...good for them kinda sucks for us, really wanted to go to both as Osheaga is different vibe than Virgin and T.O. and Montreal is such a great place to visit in general even better when there's a festival.  But alas, money trumps art again.

I can't believe this show is only $15.  They could charge $25 and it would sell out. I'm not complaining, though...

i know this has been mentioned before, but there are some additional show dates below and onsale information.  i also have presale info, PM me with which show you're interested in if you want it...

Beastie Boys - A Gala Event - Exclusive Instrumental Show
As described before these will be in smaller spots, more exclusive, more intimate. this will be more like quality time, our time, just you and the band sitting by a fire on a tropical beach late at night being serenaded with love songs. these shows are for people that are into our weird stuff. Some songs will have vocals, others will be instrumental. Already here in Europe, people have called us liars for playing songs with vocals during our so called "instrumental" shows, so be it. We lie and are proud of it. Anyways, if you'd like to come to one of these shows, then dress to impress, wear a suit, a tie, a dress, your granma's broach or whatever you feel good in... BUT PLEASE leave your cargo shorts, birkenstocks and t-shirts at home, this is not that kind of party.

August 10th - New York, NY - Hammerstein Ballroom
 August 17th - Denver, CO - Fillmore
August 20th - Los Angeles, CA - Greek Theater
August 24th - San Francisco, CA - The Warfield
Tickets for above shows go on sale to the public Saturday, June 30th at 10am (local time) except Warfield/SF, which goes on sale Sunday, July 1st at 10am (local time).

I would think a seated environment would be fitting with the intimacy of the music.

No, it's not a Spice Girls announcement, but...

I'd like to announce that my awesome wife Celeste gave birth to a healthy, beautiful alt-country lovin, White Stripes hatin baby girl at our house Friday night. Both of my wonderful girls are doing well.

As best I could tell, our daughter's first words were, "Billy Corgan is a money grubbing corporate tool." Or something like that.

Congrats, Rhett!  I'm assuming you're scrolling through Old 97's lyrics for a name now?  Annette?  Doreen?  Salome?  Victoria?
