Malin was a complete bore when he played with the Long Winters and Brendan Benson at the Black Cat, I hope to never see him again, and I hope he never tells his Barbara Streisand story again

Pollard I agree on the Wrens...saw them at the Black Cat the last time they were in DC and they were great.  Looking forward to that show (if I am in town).

I think Malin told that story to us as well...how unoriginal.

Would this be the story?

This spurs him on to tell a lengthy tome lasting at least ten minutes. Admittedly it??s a great story, about how he worked at a furniture removal store and had to move Barbara Streisand??s bed. It started raining and consequently Barbara??s bed got soaked because of a hole in the old van??s roof. Their solution was to drink and they ended up in Brooklyn, which was the name of the next song. As entertaining as these anecdotes are, for me these chats are far too long ?? he??s a musician not a comedian. ??Get on with it? I was thinking.

I saw Twilight Singers at Fletchers last year and The Darkness played there randomly at some point in '03, but I think that the ottobar (which is bigger) is more consistently booking the national acts that they would have gotten.  Their schedule now is very balto-local oriented.

I was at that show, too!   :)   I managed to run into someone who attended my undergrad alma mater,a really drunk guy who knew me from the Afghan Whigs mailing list and two girls who I joined on a roadtrip to the show in Philadelphia the following night. Good times.

I've seen a few good ones there -- Twilight Singers, Califone, Clem Snide. But lately they haven't booked alot of acts. I'll be there to see Longwave for sure.

Also, Enon is at the Ottobar March 2nd.

I guess for a while there Fletchers didn't have that much competition (post 8x10, pre Recher), but there are a lot more places in b-more for live music nowadays.  It'll be nice when more bands start playing both cities 2 nights in a row.

The twilight singers show was great, I hope they/he are coming back around soon.  I think he has a new side project, Uptown Lights.
Random Thought: That night, outside his tour bus smelled of molasses for some reason which has led to an on-going Greg Dulli molasses hot tub joke between my roommate and I.  (Like SNL James Brown hot tub, except more smoking).

Their website has them playing Richmond on the 24th and DC on the 25th to end to the tour, but venues are TBA.
