the 930 show in 2001 sold out, but i don't think it sold out 'fast'.
the black cat show in 2005? 2006? sold out, but i don't think it sold out 'fast'.

i'm really not as into the recent stuff as i was the ~95-98 era stuff -- but i'd still go.

Verizon Center. Unless they somehow became RFK-big overnight, it's the only thing that makes sense.

I like the earlier stuff better too but I've never gotten a chance to see them so I'm hyped for this. Black Cat will be cool -- I'll be on the lookout for tix.

according to  pollstar, health is touring with crystal castles for several weeks preceeding this show (including Sun 3/23/08 @ Ottobar).  but i'm guessing that this 4/04 show is without CC.

per the interview quoted in the "holy crap new radiohead album" thread, thom would refuse to do red rocks because there is no mass transit out there - everyone needs to drive, and he wants to minimize the CO2 emissions associated with the tour.  means that merriweather, wolf trap and nissan pavilion are out, too. Metro runs a pretty reliable shuttle to Wolftrap.

What goes on at the DC Armory?  I imagine its a sh*thole - but so was Ritchie Coliseum, and that place was great for concerts.  The clip below says its ready made for finger sandwiches and champagne fountains which is a strong start.

Cooler option would be a cirque de soleil style tent.

The D.C. Armory is Washington's auditorium, arena, big top and ballroom. Under this huge dome, the people of the nation's capital come to enjoy the nation's extravaganzas. It's a year-round parade of exciting events in an historic showplace. The D.C. Armory has played host to conventions, circuses, inaugural balls, horse, home, car, and food shows. You name it and the Armory can handle it.

The Armory also can be adapted to audiences of varying sizes from 1,000 to 10,000 people. Its cavernous interior can be readily transformed into an elegant setting for formal social affairs. Food service runs the gamut from finger sandwiches to crystal champagne fountains. Its entrance may become a handsome carpeted theater lobby which guests enter via a canopy.
