Philly Folk Fest
August 20-22
headliners:
Jeff Tweedy
Bonnie Prince Billy
Richard Thompson
Does anyone know anything about this festival, such as how long the headliners get? That is a compelling crop of headliners, particularly with Richard Thompson's local appearances being sparse over the last few years. The rest of the lineup seems pretty uncompelling.
I went a bunch of years ago and saw Thompson and Roger McGuinn. Basically each headliner is the final act of one night, and they played at least 90 minutes from what I recall. You can do the full three-day hippie camping experience or just get lawn passes for a single night - fun time.
I went last year and did the camping thing. It's like bellenseb said, the headliners get a nice long set. It's definitely full of latter-day hippies, and all that goes with that (wink, wink, nudge, nudge). Generally a good vibe with lots of friendly people.
