Tyondai Braxton is leaving Battles.

This might be a little controversial, but I always thought Braxton was the weak link. Sure, the crazy pitched vocals helped differentiate them from any other math-y crew (and from Don Cab, whose shadow they crawled out from under), but sometimes they distracted from the colossal groove building done by Stanier et al. Still bummed I missed that Club show in 07 or whenever 'cos I was in another hemisphere.

I think he did a lot more than just the pitch-shifted vocals.
Didn't he do much of the synth work and programming? I'm afraid that without him, they'll be reduced to a run-of-the-mill math-rock band.

That's a good point, although I was kinda going by the quality of his solo work, which I think is pretty shit.

Eh, I didn't really dig the box-of-toys/collapsed orchestra vibe. I feel like his vocal wailings and song structures need something more solid underneath them. It just didn't have the depth that so much Warp shit has, as far as I could tell.
