For fans of The Morning After Girls:

The Black Ryder w/ The Vacant Lots
Death By Audio Studios

The Cult w/ The Black Ryder
Rams Head Live

*The Black Ryder are Scott Ryder and Amiee Nash formally of The Morning After Girls.
Im looking up the Black Ryder right now.  I would love to go to DBA studios, or see them with the Cult.

Indeed it did.   I preferred the 2nd half of the show to the first.  As the review notes - Numan couldn't even sing several of the songs from the album.  He had the crowd sing instead.  And what he did sing was a bit tentative at times.  I could tell it should've been great, but it ended up being a bit disappointing.  The band was tight though.

However, as soon as he switched into industrial-mode he friggin' nailed it.  I was completely unaware of this side of him and was amazed at how good he was at it.   The studio tracks I've heard online don't even come close to how powerful they came off live.  I thought he was going to bail after the album, since he wasn't feeling well, but he played for another full hour.  Gotta give him credit for that.  Really good show, despite him being sick.

Not being that familiar with Numan's timeline, I assumed he was doing this harder stuff before Reznor. Based on the review, I guess I had that backwards.    oops.    :-\

@Bombay Chutney - A lot of people seemed to be digging the second half quite a bit. Good to hear your take.

@gothaggis? - Not my favorite sentence. I wrestled right up to print with how to best express the range of successful electronic music descendents Numan has. I changed it from 'electronica' to 'electronic music'.

I thought Numan was great. TPP material sounded very fresh, and the newer, heavier stuff sounded really good live. The crowd sing alongs were pretty fun, especially on Films. I'm pretty sure it was the really high notes he couldn't hit; the heavier stuff might be easier to sing.

When was the last time Jeff Tweedy did a solo show in DC?  I would say its been over 5 years at least.

He never has, at least in the past eight years I've lived here.

Would be amazing to have him play at the Lincoln Theatre.

Also, regarding the Jeff Tweedy tour, does anyone have the full list of dates?  Wilco's website apprears to have a link to it, but it doesn't work.  Here is what I do know:

Dec. 4 - Bowery Ballroom, NYC
Dec. 5 or 6 - Tarrytown, NY
Dec. 8 - Jefferson Th., Charlottesville

Hopefully there is a DC show, and hopefully at a theater and not the club.  It's hard for me to imagine the audience keeping quiet if it were at the club.

Also, having just been to The Opera House in Wilmington, DE, that would be a great place for a show like this and isn't too bad of a trek from DC.

That's it. But it's the Paramount, not the Jefferson.
