It should be noted that the Shpongletron experience is unfortunately not a "live" set :(

nope, it's Simon DJ'ing in the middle of a big light/projection rig, a la deadmau5: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yLwjBTWUtOA

i wouldn't ever expect to see shpongle do a live show at the club; it's just not economically viable.  maybe seth could get them for VFest or some other large gathering... (aside: those who want to see what shpongle's live show looks like should hunt down the "shpongle live at the roundhouse" DVD)

regardless, i'm there for the dj/club gig.

Has there ever been a venue that packs people in until they can't move as badly as the 9:30 Club does?  Luckily I've never been to one.

i take it you don't go out to shows much.

The nice thing about the State Theater is it can be sold out and you don't feel as though you're packed like sardines, can't say the same about the 9:30 club.

another nice thing about the State is that they might have a show you'll go to instead of here

Maybe just a lot of big people go to the 930 club!  :)

I've been to dozens of venues in and outside of DC and a 9:30 sold out show is the worst show environment I've ever seen. Club has lots of good points; this is not one of them.

Bowery Ballroom and Webster Hall are right up there with the 9:30 Club. I expect Friendly Fires show tonight to be nearly oncomfortable. The only place you might be able to move will be in the very front of the stage. Bowery has gotten worse over time - and Webster on some sold-out shows can be nearly intolerable (i wont even get into the non-stop talking).
