just started relistening to his stuff again and watching crazy internet videos.  i'm afraid of his concerts, that meaning going to them.  too many flashing lights for my enjoyment.  seizure disorders suck.

(to be fair they usually play baltimore outside of national tour time.....except it's near impossible to ever see matmos play in baltimore)

i'm so "american minded" . . . looked up this guy, apparently he is fucking huge and has won multiple latin grammy awards, sold millions of albums, women throw themselves at him, can charge $170 to play at warner.  and i have no fucking clue who he is or have never heard his name once mentioned in music.

the classic ugly american.. ignorant and proud to shout it out.

walkonby is admitting his lack of awareness, stating that he was shocked to find out that he was unaware of such a huge star in south america.  i think it was neat that he stated this. i don't think he's being proud of not knowing this, he's expressing surprise - the same way one might be surprised to find that some band you've never heard of has just sold out verizon or madison square garden.

I think it is ridiculous that the 930 club is keeping band from playing baltimore and dc.  Also more ridiculous that bands from baltimore are choosing to play DC over Baltimore.  But in this instance it doesn't bother me as much.  Don't really care for Dan Deacon and his crowds are super annoying.  Though Height with Friends is a favorite of mine. 

Wye Oak and Celebration seem to be Baltimore first bands though.

my apologies to walkie if I misread his post which it seems i did.. I'm operating on short sleep here with a sick two year old, a mother in law in the house, and a two week old baby.. and more family than you can shake a stick at arriving later today.

if you've never heard of Juanes you're living under a rock but then again this is some of the same crowd that gets up in arms if someone even suggests the 930 book more (read ANY) Latin rock acts so why should I be surprised...
