Maybe it's due to the Synagogue not selling any alcohol? That's a big driver of revenue otherwise, no?

Last Nick Cave shows were $45. And for the record, I still think $36 is high for most bands including The Dirty three but it doesn't surprise me given the location. Maybe it is because it costs a lot to rent it or something but Sixth and I shows  generally cost more.

so $36 is ok for the dirty three cause you guys like them but for most bands you'd all be yelling about how it was crazy

I saw the dirty three at the black cat on their tour for the first album.. i find their music is kind of boring.. i like it in small doses but an entire album is just too much for me to take. For a few minutes I'll be like "oh this is really cool... " but eventually it just wears me out.

Sixth and I does in fact sell alcohol.  I went to the Polyphonic Spree show and they had a bar set up in the Moses Lounge (I believe that was its name) downstairs.  You could bring drinks up to the show, but only if they were in one of their tumblers.  I am not sure if this is the general rule, as the only other time I went there was for a Rachel Maddow book tour thing.
