I don’t think it affects IMP as much as Jammin Java, birchmere, pearl street, city winery, Hamilton, gypsy Sally’s, Bethesda bohemian and many others which seem to be competing over the same Americana folk type acts...also hill country and union stage....its nuts
a number of the acts like Rhett Miller/Old 97s and number of others used to only play the 930
not a big dent in his pocket I agree
it used to just be the Birchmere, Iota (RIP) and the Bayou (RIP) that would get those acts vs playing the 930

City Winery initial bookings. It's like the Birchmere but with free water.

Walsh weaves the stories of luminaries who had crucial experiences in Boston—Morrison, Lou Reed, Timothy Leary, James Brown—around the forgotten and often astonishing history of the city when it was old, weird, and grimy.

Walsh also argues for Boston as an underappreciated hub of late-sixties radicalism, artistic invention, and social experimentation. ”

“Walsh describes Boston as ‘the true birthplace of American hallucinogenic culture.’
