I mentioned this elsewhere, but I'd like to chime in again for Rhett Miller...he has hit nearby cities, no DC...and bring his current opener, Griffin House please. (Rhett's back up in NYC in Nov....album out 2/06...please and thanks. :) )

 (and thanks Kosmo!)

hey seth, how about asking eric and rob from thievery corp if they and their band want to throw a rockin' new year's eve party at the club? after their smokin' performances in july, it would be a guarenteed sell out and a most excellent time. those shows in july were smokin!

...thanks for booking local bands for the next few weekends.  It's lots of fun for FOBs and fans - and the bands are really digging it 'cause 930 is still the "gold standard" of venues. I think the club was about 80% full last night, and I was impressed at how much fun everyone was having.  Props to you and Lisa!

Sparklehorse tour in late-February-March. I don't know if they're big enough to play 9:30 at this point but if you can get it...

I'm just reiterating my standing request for a Drive-By Truckers show, especially with the release of their album this spring.

Let's continue all these local Fridays (Army of Me, Monopoli, Cedars, etc etc) and bring the Washington Social Club to the club sometime soon.

Definitely a nice idea. Or on a Sat. night? Also if doors could open slightly earlier? (Not rush hour, just 9 pm doors? I'm old.  :D  )

I still would like to see a miles per dollar spent method. Tough to implement, I know. But it might make people keep quiet about service charges.

As much as I like the idea of a regular local band showcase thing, I do not at all like it monopolizing any weekend night. (No pun intended.) That would just cut into seeing nationals way too much when they tour and we are lucky enough to get a weekend date along with hurting those who can't really make it out to a club on work/school nights.

Take them as they fit into the schedule is what I say.

This would also put a lot more of the old club flavor back into the 9:30 Club.

As far as door times, I think they are perfect as they are. Couldn't ask for anything better when you are trying to balance out so many other factors.

Defintely a good point. Okay, scratch my idea. As it is, I don't get to see national acts during the week either.
I concur, it would bring back some old 9:30 flava.

Being too young to remember the old club flavor, I feel like I would have loved it.

I think the Army of Me show was scheduled before a show with late doors, maybe that could keep happening?

I don't want it to take precedence over touring acts, but I think it would be awesome to fit local nights in whenever they could be.
