No.If Sonic Youth and Wilco do shows at the 9:30 Club, the motherfucking dears aren't too big.

I don't know what you are talking about. Where are you getting your information? Ticketmaster.com doesn't list anything for The Dears on December 5th. They list one date at the Troubador in CA in October and three dates in Canada. After a couple dates in California, they're touring Europe and then Canada and then they're coming back to the US. The US leg of the tour has not yet been announced and is presumably still being booked.

No, I don't think so. Not in the US anyway. They weren't too big for the club when they opened for The Soundtrack of Our Lives last year. And stole the show, I would add.

I bet you they will play the Black Cat.
Their LA show at the Troubadour isn't even sold out after a month of being on sale...and the Troubadour is tiny!

LA != DC, thank God. Joe, make up your mind. Are they too big for the 9:30 Club or are they too small for the 9:30 Club? Or do you just have something against them and don't want them to play the 9:30 Club?  ;)

Dude, you're the one that wrote that it was listed on Ticketmaster! So don't give me any shit for checking Ticketmaster. FWIW, I also checked Pollstar and TheDears.org, neither of which list that show.

Ah, Darth Ed...I humbly apologize. You are correct. I take back my snarkiness.

FWIW - TM *did* list a Vancouver date for Nov 27 but then dropped it. But now it's on the actual Dears site. It all kinda makes sense...they go east to west through Canada in November and work their way back through the States in Dec in time for their traditional Christmas-week gigs in Montreal.

Hey Seth...

Sevendust is touring starting the end of December.  They will be in the general area at the beginning of the announced dates.  Any chance you can book them at the club?

 Thanks

Pollstar "The Rolling Stones have confirmed a pair of late-October concerts at New York City's Beacon Theatre."
If they are playing the Beacon, can you get them to come a little further down the coast for a 9:30 show?
I haven't seen them since the Cap Center in 1981, but the idea of seeing them at the club would be very exciting.

If my info is correct, those Beacon Theater shows are invite only for Pres. Clinton's 60th birthday.  Besides, they're charging $400+ for front row seats on their tour right now.  So I can only imagine what 9:30 seats would go for.  I should know.  Im going to see 'em in AC.    :D  For my 3rd show in the tour in about a year.  (D.C., Baltimore, now A.C.)  And yes, you hipster fucks biased toward anything remotely mainstream (not all of you), it is worth it.  I'll take their catalog over any of your Village Voice adored bands any day of the week.

Rolling Stones>>>>Be Your Own Pet, TV On The Radio (they are good, though), or any other lil' indie/hipster band you & SPIN magazine are love with this month

Mick Jagger is the greatest frontman of all time.  Period.  End of discussion.  (I'll give you Robert Plant, but not anything else.  Not even Bono. Much as it hurts me to admit that.)

So with all that said, book 'em Seth.  1500 seats??? @ $275 a pop makes for a 100K+ take each Mick & the boys (before Lisa Fischer, Darryl Jones and 'em get broke off of course.)  For that much, even $300 - I'm there.  Even though I got raped for $250 at Virgin Festival for those VIP seats.  More on that later . . . (On a positive note, thanks for booking The Who, Seth.  That was some priceless shit.)
