Ben Harper just announced his tour.  Closest they are coming so far is NYC and PA, it looks like.  DC date, perhaps?

Can you explain the rationale behind releasing set/stage times for festivals in general or at least for the ones youâ??re involved with?

Iâ??ve often wondered why/how some festivals are willing/able to provide set/stage times months in advance while others wait until days before the show.

Is this merely a promoter preference, is artist management involved in the decision, do concessionaires have a say?

Are there concerns that fans will delay entry and thus suppress revenue making opportunities for the concessionaires?

Are the times not firm until the last minute?

How much lead time do the companies actually printing timetables for distribution at the show require to make deadlines, and is the information even quarantined from them?

 Bonus question:

And if youâ??re feeling especially forth coming can you provide insight in the theories of not merely banding fans upon initial entry and allow unlimited entering and exiting during multiple day events.  Again is there a concern about revenue suppression, is it merely a logistical nightmare requiring unruly security requirements, etc.?

Pulling back the veil on these types of decisions would be enlightening and appreciated.

What the hell, man? We don't ask thoughtful well-articulated questions in the "Hey Seth" thread; we scream band requests followed by offers of sexual favors in return. You're a disgrace to this entire intraweb community.

whew...had to get a cup of coffee for that one...

The biggest reason we don't release schedules is because they're not finalized until pretty late...just finished V Fest this week and will put it out shortly

other than that, as you will soon see, it will inspire a cacaphony of forum complaints, with people taking great pride in demonstrating their other-worldly hipness by declaring how inconsiderate it was to have their personal discovery band overlapping with another, or how positively unbearable it might be to have 2 bands on at the same time that they have long since abandoned due to commercial success, thus giving them nothing to do for an hour and be forced to walk around & socialize

followed by the usual declarations of how they are abandoning our local event in favor of travelling to see Daft Punk

all of which greatly amuses me, as people are actually so sheep-like in their strive to prove different

lighten the fuck up and enjoy life I say to the aforementioned

 in & out priveleges...where do I begin...

it's hard enough getting everyone in the first time without having to do it over & over

then, of course, there's the scam factor

and where is it that people need to go exactly?

can't be for anything good but, if there is a legitimate reason, we  try to listen and make exceptions, but understand that someone needing to go out for an illegitimate reason is going to tell us otherwise so, of course, that ruins the trust for everyone

in terms of food & beverage sales, we absolutely count on that to pay for everything so, no, we cannot afford to lose that opportunity...sorry, that's just life in a capitalist system...and we are not subsidized by the Park Service like Wolf Trap

so when you are hoisting that cold one, think of it is going towards your favorite band

or, if you want to be miserable, dwell on how it as paying for the one you wish wasn't playing

we're going to try to do everything we can to make sure that people coming to the show have a great time, and that the ones who don't realize they fucked up

it will be fun I promise
