Vamos a ver....

I think I wore my Docs until about 28-29.  Of course I still wear Chuck's almost exclusively when not at work or exercising, so to each her own.

You had shoes that were 32 years old? Yikes.

I still have a pair of Nike high tops and Timberland work boots from junior high and high school, respectively, making them about 27 and 24 years old. Never wear either of them though.

Okay, so I've been wearing Docs for 16 years.  In 16 years, I've gone through only 3 pairs of docs.  I've worn out my most recent pair (purchased only 3 years ago), and I'm looking for a replacement.  Now that I'm in my early 30s (ack), my girlfriends tease me for still wearing Docs - so junior high school, right?

Anyway, before I say screw it and just buy another pair of Docs, I'm wondering whether there are any good substitutes out there that (1) are comfortable, (2) show appropriate (meaning if someone stomps on my foot or something, I won't lose a toe), (3) will give me at least a little bit of height and (4) are not hideous.  Oh and (5) don't make me look like Punky Brewster (meaning Chuck Taylors are totally out).  Suggestions???
Geez!  What is it this week with women asking questions like this (Walkonby's "Am I a Dork?" thread)?  Is everybody's menstrual cycle syncing up?

Who CARES what your girlfriends think?  They're just jealous 'cuz they can't FIT in a size 6....pair of Docs.

Don't give up the dream.  Keep wearing the shit-kickers.

if we blow up the moon, women's cycles would go away.

sometimes, they go on sale.  You used to be able to get them for super cheap (like 50 bucks), which is when I bought my lot.

I have huge feet.  Just thought I'd throw that out there.  Size 15.  I don't have THAT much trouble finding shoes but for example, there's a company called Oddball Shoes which specialize in big shoes.  Of the 117 shoes listed in their latest catalog, only 16 were wider than D.

I'm like a male Peggy Hill.

Thanks so much for the ideas (and the entertainment).  Keep the suggestions coming if you've got em!

Don't you know that wearing white shoes after labor day is a fashion no-no?
