Those lacoste flats are an abomination. If my girl bought those, I'd have to consider breaking off the engagement. At least the other ugly shoes (danskos, etc.) have some functionality to recommend them.
 
 Seriously, just buy another pair of docs. They work, they have a subcultural association you seem to appreciate, and they're not outrageously expensive.

white shoes are ok if you are exercising and never any other time
 
 i wear docs to work all the time. for shows i go with whatever new balance/saucony/puma shoe i have

Same here. In my mid-twenties now and have been wearing them since I was 15. Unfortunately, when I bought my last pair, I didn't realize that they started making them in China. I got the size I always get without trying them on, and they don't fit the same. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one still wearing 'em.

Based on the evidence provided in a WMATA poster, it's a bad idea to wear flip-flops if one intends to use the escalators.  In the picture of actually mangled footwear within the system were flip-flops.

i once saw this guys pant leg get ripped off as he was going up the escalator. can u imaging walking home with one pant leg and exposed boxers...poor guy.

The 930 club should make a poster of footwear that was left behind by crowd surfers-kind of a what not to wear PSA.
