I've had a pair of these for about 6 years, including two winters of wearing them 6+ hours every day dog-walking, and they're still in basically the exact same condition as they were when I got them. Harley Davidson "Side Street". And no, they've never once touched a motorcycle (though I do wear them when mountain biking in the winter).

i have never found any docs (or any other boots for that matter) after a show.  mostly flip flops, and the occasional sneaker.

flip flops and anything open toed are a ridiculously bad idea to wear to a club.  heels are pretty silly too.  most nights, a good pair of sneakers will do just fine.  when it gets rough, boots are your friends.  when it gets really heavy, you will thank your steel toes the next morning.

i have seen some nasty foot injuries at the club.  trust me, i know what i'm talking about here.  a heel through someone's foot.  crushed toes. nails ripped off.  cuts.  bruises.  people tripping and falling down stairs.

that, plus you may have to navigate the obstacle course of spilled beer, broken bottles, vomit, and other various nastiness that is often created by our crowds.  you're going to be standing for a while, too.  smart footwear is a must.

my favorite shoes are my rocketdog astroids. they don't make them anymore though unfortunately but sometimes a new pair pops up on ebay. the soles do wear out after about a year which sucks.

I'm 47 years old and been wearing Docs since I was 12.......admittedly, I don't have a much of a need for them down here in S. FL but I still own a pair.

If it's comfort/quality you're looking for then I strongly recommend www.merrell.com I've owned quite a few pairs of these over the years and they are the best made and most comfortable shoes out there...

When I go to shows, I'm usually in my blue trainers or a pair of low-heeled boots. I don't dress to be the hot chick, so FMB are not in the equation at all.  ;)

Wear what you like and allow you to feel comfortable in the venue setting.

I bought my first pair of Fluevogs recently and love them. I managed to find the style I wanted on Zappos and paid $50 less than buying from the Fluevog site. I'd never wear them to a venue, but still super-cute.

Why wouldn't you wear them to a venue?  Because you wouldn't want them to get messed up?  I wear mine everywhere...

Are we talking about shoes for comfort or shoes for show-going? The shoes Relaxer and Chaz posted are comfy and look good too (to me anyway). I have Bjorn boots that look like the ones Chaz posted - they are pretty comfy and warm to boot. (!) They are not too feminine & are flat (must pair with shorter jeans, etc.). My feet felt okay after a show. Work or a lot of activity I haven't tried but once. I found them (black) a couple years ago at TJ Maxx...but assume you could find the brand online or another store.

Bjorn also makes shoes that look the same - one would never know under a pair of pants/jeans.

Clarks are comfy but I have yet to find a pair that didn't geek me.

What is too old for Docs? I mean, for shows and with jeans/pants you can't really notice...Not sure I understand - they are just boots. (I've been wanting to drag out my burgundy ones b/c I truly need a comfortable boot/shoe for shows but not sure I'd wear them on casual Friday to work - is this something I'll regret? lol)
Chucks (and Docs) don't suit certain people but I don't understand how Chucks would not be age appropriate... at least for someone who is 30 and at a concert.

That would be 'ox blood' when referring to docs, thank you....

We'll see if you feel that way when you're thirty. [/b]
I will.  I'll still be happy in my old ratty purple ones, thank you. [/b]
im sure you will be. im in my 30's and still love my ratty purple docs that i got when i was 16. i found some vans from high school too that i wear now and again as well.

oh and just for you betty - i noticed a lot of chucks at yom kippur services at the chabad  :)
