Now that the initial hype has died down and people have had time to listen to their CD... is it really any good?

I'm sorry, I haven't had time to listen to their cd.

I like it.  Nothing earth-shattering but still a very enjoyable listen.

I thought they were completely boring.  Took a while to warm up, had a three or four song run of good live playing, then threw in some songs that completely brought the energy down.

We Are Scientists however, were fantastic.  Really, really good.

Funny, I thought the complete opposite.  I thought the Scientists were adequate if that.  Their inter-band banter was "cute" but seemed contrived.  Most of their songs had promise but seemed to go nowhere.

 Monkeys I thought were great.

funny you mentioned their inter-band banter. i really dont think its contrived at all. ive seen them several times, and met them a few times, and i get the feeling thats just how they are. onstage and offstage. although listening to them talking about vampires, and warewolves and a bonfire was quite hilarious (at the stone pony in jersey). seems most the NY bands they played with -OxC and bishop allen also seem to chat a lot on stage. id rather have that vs dead silence on the stage.

keith is quite funny and usually at least has something entertaining to say  :)  although chris is quite funny as well  :)

the monkeys' music is enjoyable for a while, but it's so one note that it gets old. they're gonna hit a major sophomore slump. we are scientists, on the other hand, have songs that actually sound different from one another. by the way, judging by the performances, the order the bands played shoulda been reversed.

I thought the songs by We Are Scientists are forgettable. Live, they're the worst I've seen this year. I can't believe the Grates opened for them......now the Grates = GREAT FUN!

Agreed.  In person they are just like that, even their website is nonsensical.  They're pretty genuine guys when you talk to them and I think that they put on a really fun live show.

they performed to a half-capacity, Sunday night crowd on the club stage - and played like they were going to die the next day.
