re: PJ - meh.  i understand the nostalgia factor, but based on their lolla performance and their last show at verizon i wouldn't get too excited about it.  i think their hype far outweighs their reality (is that a rhettism?).  they're crowd-pleasers, but i'm not sure they deserve all the adoration based on what they currently delivery.  eddie isn't the wild performer he used to be, iggy is a hell of a lot more fun to watch on stage.  but putting on my marketing hat, i have no doubt they'd sell a lot of tickets.

Using iggy as a basis of comparison isn't really fair to any artist.

having seen PJ back in 92-93, i think it's indeed a fair comparison.  eddie was a much wilder/crazier/animated (read: entertaining) performer back then.

I remember hearing he was at least in negotiations to do Glastonbury a few years ago.  The almighty dollar can certainly sway one's decisions.

I spent way way way too much money at the festival, thats for sure.  Nothing like $9 beers, $4 sodas, $3 waters ugh
 
 anyway, Saturday was so f'ing hot, I'm surprised I made it through the whole day.  The highlight of Saturday for me was without a doubt TV on the Radio.  I've seen them before (at the Ottobar a few years back opening up for Firewater) and impressed me way back then.....no different this time.  Love those guys.  The other highlights of Saturday were Cheap Trick and LCD Soundsystem.  Modest Mouse were booorrring (but sounded good)
 
 Sunday the temp was much lower so that was great.  Highlights were Dan Deacon (horsey horsey - although next time remember spare batteries..how many times does this happen? jeeez), Explosions in the Sky - hadn't heard them before at all, so was surprised when I actually dug them, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Interpol and MIA.
 
 I really wanted the highlight of Sunday night to be the flame spitting machine + robot, but it seemed like they were having problems with that...so I wanted the highlight to be the destruction of the virgin effigy - of course they had to have problems with that too....eventually they did get one robot working and the other one hand controlled to knock it down.....was cool, but a bit of a letdown with all the problems they were running into.  would have been better if they lit that thing on fire, but I suppose pimlico wouldn't have liked that, heh.

That's what my friend and I figured too! I don't understand why they left 15 minutes early. I know they're not really into festivals, but you would think they would've played for the whole set since they did have a lot of time allotted for them.

I'm glad people agree with me. I know someone third my idea! I can just imagine how crazy awesome it would be to have him play. Another artist that would be amazingly cool would be David Bowie. I do believe he occasionally does festivals still.
 
 One thing I forgot to mention about the V-fest that I really like is how each band had a good bit of time to play to fans. I really loved getting 90 minutes from the pumpkins and getting an hour from the YYYs. It's really genius compared to how radio festivals are done where each band except for like 3 of the bigger acts on the bill get to only play for like a half hour.

Pearl Jam: i personally wouldn't be excited about them, they weren't that great at lolla, but they'd sell a lot of tickets
 Rage Aginst The Machine: novelty might be over by next year, unless they release another album.  might work if they don't play another show on the east coast between now and then.
 Led Zeppelin: reunion has been discredited.  would probably want too much money anyways.
 Radiohead: yes please, album coming out before next vfest
 Daft punk: yes please
 Iggy and the stooges: not sure they're big enough to headline, not enough mainstream appeal
 Soundgarden: not sure they have quite enough mainstream appeal either - but maybe.  would need to be paired with a big mainstream or classic draw (sorta like the pumpkins were this year with the police).
 Metallica: maybe, i wouldn't mind them, would also sell a lot of tickets
 Pink Floyd: yes please, for the nostalgia factor and the great light show    :cool:    
 
 as mentioned above, prince would also be good.  he'll be touring later this year, if that generates enough buzz then the should be demand for him at a festival late next summer.
 
 foo fighters would also work.  they will also be touring later this year/early next year.

I was talking to my friend on our way back from V Fest, while listening to Daft Crunk, would Daft Punk be able to headline the main stage? I said there's no way they could headline teh dance tent, their pyramid is too big. So I said at least they could headline the 2nd stage, but is it a stretch to think they could headline the main stage next year?

Metallica seems like a good bet. Everybody is talking about their new album under the direction of the great Rick Rubin. So it seems like that would be the hot or trendy choice when VFEST comes around next year. But does Metallica fit in well with VFEST???  I really couldn't imagine seeing a bunch of long haired metal heads walking around with their chain wallets and cut-off jorts.
 Keep in mind I'm not insulting metal heads. I love Maiden, Sabbath, Priest, Metallica, etc.  Just don't know if Metallica would be the best pick for the festival.
