I had to do a Pollstar search to see if JP were indeed in DC tonight, but I think I get it - a Darkness warmup eh?

Now I'd def go see the reunited JP. Would be great fun. I was coerced into seeing AC/DC a few years ago & it turned out to be hysterically fun. Hopefully that's what a Darkness show will be like.

I don't have the Darkness disc, and I listened to Queen's Greatest Hits last night, so I figured the Priest would be the next best thing.

You know Judas Priest is on the Ozzfest this summer?  I wonder if Halford can still hit those high notes?

Only if KK Downing can still squeeze Halford's balls tight enough.

Slayer is always a good time.

But it's at Nissan - in the actual pavilion - and tickets start at $50.00

It will be VERY interesting to see how those death metal fans respond to the out-of-the-closet Halford. [I believe this is his first tour with JP since his unveiling.]
I can't imagine that it'll be a very 'accepting' crowd. Maybe it doesn't matter though as long as you can bring the rock! \nn/

Unless he simulates gay sex onstage, I can't imagine people really caring. It's all about the music anyway, man. And there's nothing really gay about there music, is there? Except for all the leather and shit...

Although Sharon and Ozzy cracked jokes throughout Friday's press conference, it was Priest's Halford who got the loudest laughs. It started when Sharon was asked why this year's lineup had all metal bands and nothing that could be considered rap-rock or alternative.

"Because that's what Ozzfest is about," she said. "If you want alt, go to other festivals, not ours. We're not gay."

Halford then pointed out dryly, "I am."

Saw them last eve with Damien Rice. An unexpected treat.

If you must do a sit-down theater-style show, the Byham Theater in Pittsburgh is tough to beat...it's just a kick ass venue.

I'm a pretty casual Damien Rice fan, but I think there are others on here that feel passionately about the quality of his live shows.

He had the full band with him, but they did the unplugged thing. He said that they'll make a last minute decision to play like that every couple weeks & that since the audience was sitting & it was Easter Sunday that it seemed appropriate.

He's a supremely talented singer & then you throw in the bonus near operatic vocals of Lisa Hannigan + the cello & it's  powerful stuff...even 'unplugged'

A highlight for me was a little seque into "Hallelujah" Jeff Buckley style to close the main set.

A very enjoyable Sunday evening...even considering the sangria headache I'm nursing.

I'll take a sit down venue over a stand up venue any day of the week!

I recall having this discussion with you on numerous occasions, but for the record:

Except for very rare occasions/artists - I much prefer standing. Sitting saps energy from the crowd which unquestionably the bands feed off. I'm sure you've seen shows in venues where seats diminished the experience. Steve Earle comes to mind immediately.
