seeing as several of the 9:30 staph read and post on this forum, it might be helpful to explain exactly what you mean by "making fun of fans and the band"...  the staph is too busy making sure that things are running smoothly to take time out to make fun of the fans or band.

My wife and I met some Third Eye Blind fans at the Velvet Lounge after the Third Eye Blind show.  They drove to DC from Ohio to see Third Eye Blind.  Touch me, I am special..

But, I never understood deadheads ether, so I'm at a loss.

I guess if you weren't there (especially in the first couple rows) you would never know or understand.

But they just were making fun of the music, pointing to their co-workers to single out a screaming fan and laugh...

And Third Eye Blind wasn't "blind" either, Stephen threw his cup of tea at the floor below him where the staff were after trying to be cool with one of the dudes.

Again, for the 30 people who were in the front row, you'll know what I mean.

I've never heard an entire venue referred to as the "front row".

I don't know...yes it is slightly unprofessional if they are making fun of the band or the audience. But it's not like working at the 9:30 Club is some high powered corporate job where strict rules of professional decorum need to be adhered to. As long as the staph is not obstructing someones concert experience, cut them some slack and let them have a laugh.

Besides, no matter what show it is, there's always some overly enthusiastic fan who is just begging to be laughed at. Some of us have probably even BEEN that fan on occasion.

next thing you'll be telling me that rock stars drink dry white wine on stage... oh wait that already happened at the supergrass show.

whatever happen to the days when the road crew brought out bottles of beer instead of water before a band came out.  it was quite refreshing to see the detroit cobra's drummer walk on stage for the encore with a bottle of newcastle brown in hand and set it down on his floor tom for easy drinking.

Nobody was making fun of the band or their music.  Nobody was making fun of fans.  Their guitarist was a riot to me, personally (and I think intentionally).  Stephen dropped his tea-it was pretty much empty-I think the man was done drinking it and just let it fall-no big deal, since it wan't a busy night in the barricade.  Which brings me to my next point.  Slow nights in the barricade can get boring if you're not into the band.  So we entertain ourselves while working.  We make a point of not making fun, but rather just try to be ridiculous and make one another laugh at ourselves.  You try standing in one place for 2 hours and resist the opportunity to make an ass of yourself for your friends' amusement.  Sorry if it seemed as though we were making fun of you, others or the band--we really try not to make fun.

yeah i guess most of you guys are right..

santos l halper, what i mean by the 30 people in the front row is the people who had direct eye contact with the staff in the front.. if you're 8 ft tall and in the back and you can see the front row staff's actions, more power to you yao.

and makie, i have 2 marilyn manson tickets, general admission tickets i'm reselling (i hope you get this : )

3eb is great, and they've sold out shows at 930 club for years now (except for the last show). the staff should respect a band that does that for the simple reason that they are bringing in the people/business. the ppl who've been working at the club for a while, the people i've been seeing for the last few years are always nice and professional. but it seems like the new/newer people are assholes and take there job too seriously. the new people ive never seen before abuse their power a little bit. also...why isn't lamb of god playing after shadows fall. who the fuck do shadows falls think they are? thnx for bringing my fav bands 930 club! 3EB, KSW, and Lamb of God!!!
