But these are the days of internet leaks... the good with the bad. Hype is a dangerous thing.

Oh and this is fun... The Bravery (at least the vocalist... perhaps more) began as umm... Ska band SKABBA THE HUT. But hey... that fad died out and now we're dealing with the rise (and fall) of dancerocksynthdance. SO HELL... at least they're adapting.

If anyone has any idea how to find out who managed the tour (or who made the decision to switch headliners) I would love to send a strongly worded letter (and a xerox copy of my ticket stub which reads "ASH").

Well, Billy, this is a real new low in rock history.  Someone tries to actually END a show because of his own personal tastes and opinions.  Seems pretty fuc*ing intolerant of other's tastes and wishes, since everyone sharing floor space with you last night had to pay the same for tickets as you did.  This is rock 'n roll, not a nuclear proliferation conference.  I'd suggest you try to tolerate the miscreant Bravery fans...off to see Army of Me right now.  I suppose I'll see you there trying to shut down the show?

Buck up, pal.  There will be plenty more unfair "scheduling" in your future, and hack musicians who - HORRORS - played in other now defunct and outdated bands who still show up and play okay music in their old age. Now if you got robbed for those $163. U2 tickets and they played first and your missed 'em, I'd say you'd have a real beef.

yeah... for fuck's sake!!!  and honestly, why is it really that big a deal which band plays in which slot, except for the fact that it wasn't clearly noted?   It's like a bunch of prissy 50something bureaucrats fighting over who gets the office with 1" more window space...

geez ligthen up... i'm sure billy was only being factious.  and it did matter for those of who were looking forward to Ash serving as headliner tour.  Their set would have been longer, they would have played last as would be expected of a headliner, which is why some missed out on part or all of thier set.  In the end a great 45 minute set is better then nothing, especially if it's the last time they tour the states.

I'm glad i wasn't the only one feeling this way. And I love Skabba the Hut. BTW, the BC changed their site a couple days earlier, as indicated on BY  when I complained on Weds night. I'm sure it wasn't the Cat that changed it, but someone should really be shot over this. The Bravery were set to play the backstage of the BC in February, but their slot dissapeared from the site in late January, to be replaced as an opener for Ash a few weeks later. So, from backstage band to headliner in less than 3 months.

I guess they can thank the shitty music tastes of London for that upgrade.

Yup.  About 10 years before these guys.  I talked to WSC's Marty about it last night (he and Olivia both went to Vassar).  No ska bands at the time, but the three biggest campus bands I remember were Desderata, a jam cover band, and two with friends of mine in 'em -- CDP (Contaminated Dog Phlegm, kind of a metal takeoff band) and Voodoo Sex Party.  The bass player in Voodoo moved here to DC and was in a band, Thirteen Happiness Street, that used to play around town -- you know, the Grog and Tankard circuit.

I think The Crimea was very, very great. They kind of surprised me, they had their very own way of performing. And I know that Ash would be a great performance band and I was really disappointed that they were switched with The Bravery for the headlining band. The Bravery was kind of ridiculous. I really laughed when they got onto stage and I thought this is just a huge joke, but it wasn't. The crowd in the front row were classmates of the bass player, maybe they made the show sold out. Anyways, I think the band had a good appearance on stage though. I didn't really listened to the music. I was a little bit afraid that the bassplayer wouldn't make it until the end of the show because he really couldn't spend 2 minutes without emptying a beer bottle on ex. An enjoyable evening though.

<img src="http://www.xs4all.nl/~ernstmul/images/yahoo/33.gif" alt=" - " /> fascinating... someone told me before the show to make a point of seeing Crimea... she said they were great.  I missed them, and the couple of people who I talked to at the show pretty much agreed with you.

One thing to say about this show, though:  all three bands inspired passion, either negative or positive.  And that's way better than a show where you leave just thinking "meh."
