TBH when I found that one, I was looking for one of them hugging after the explosion in the opening credits. But this one was a thousand times better.

in case you needed an excuse to visit montreal... the undercard has some hidden gems - i think poolside --> soccer mommy --> wallows would make for a fun friday afternoon.

As a person who’s been to a Coachella, Glastonbury, Osheaga, Lola, Rock en Seine, multiple HFStivals and VFests, I feel the need to say Osheaga is by far the most enjoyable festival experience I’ve ever been to.

Its in goddamn Montreal, the hold it when the weather is conducive to not baking like a potato if you’re outside all day, the crowd is both large enough to feel significant and also small enough to not feel like you’re eight miles from the bands, and the venue they had it at (is it always/still that tree lined island park?) is great and has shade. You can also often combine it with a Travers/Whitney Stakes trip to the Saratoga Springs meet if you’re cool with a 2.5-3 hour drive (or adding a full race week onto it with only 5 PTO days if they fall in consecutive weekends.)

The lineups will never rival a Coachella or Primavera or Glastonbury but it’s a blast. Only Rock en Seine is close to figuring out the same combination. (An event I’m going back to for the second time this August.)

Its in goddamn Montreal

even though i haven't visited properly in over 20 years, i love that city.  t'was where, as teenagers, we'd run away to and have absolute freedom.

dammit, i've worked myself up to the point of checking out airfare for that weekend...

yup, it's always been at Parc Jean-Drapeau as far as i know.

The lineups will never rival a Coachella or Primavera or Glastonbury but it’s a blast.

i think that's the best kind of festival: where the music is almost (but not quite) secondary.  back in the day there was a small electronic music festival in rural southern PA that i would hit every year regardless of the lineup.  the location, the amazing staff/organizers, the independent/DIY vibe... it all put me in a space where i could listen to and enjoy just about anything.
