Engineers
"In Praise Of More"
October 4th

This will include new members, Daniel Land (from Daniel Land & The Modern Painters and Riverrun) and Ulrich Schnauss.

Also a new compilation with a bonus disc is being put out by Rocket Girl which will contain all her bands and more. It will include a cut from Robin Guthrie called "Broken Heart". Other details to follow at a later time. It's all been compiled; it's just the rest of the business side that needs to get under way. My guess, sometime this Fall, in time for the Christmas rush.

New Vaselines LP and Antony EP both leaked recently.

The Vaselines can still write a perfect pop song and the Antony EP contains quite a few moments of bliss.

Blonde Redhead's new one is all sorts of boring. One or two slow plodding electronically driven tracks would've been enough but a whole album? Sleepsville. The new Kemialliset Ystävät is an amazing psychedelic celebration of sound and catchy melodies.

I'm not ready to write it off entirely, but I took the new Sword album out for a run yesterday and halfway through it, I forgot what I was listening to. What sucks is this is how it went for the last one too -- first couple listens were pretty blah and then I pretty much forgot about it. But I still play 'Age of Winters' constantly, hence my disappointment.

And maybe because I haven't listened to this band much in the past, but I'm digging the new Of Montreal. Also like the new Black Mountain a lot.

Oh yeah, listened to the first five tracks on Interpol and thought, okay that's enough.

I listened to about a track and a half of the Of Montreal and got side-tracked by something the other day.

Oh yeah; the Swans album is excellent. Not even Devendra Banhart could ruin it.

Eels' new one just popped up.

Stream James Blackshaw's 'All is Falling'

The addition of Lars Gotrich to their music department is the best thing to happen to NPR in a long time.

First Thou and now this album. It's about time they showcased something other than cookie cutter indie-rock in this First Listen series.

Now all that I've read about those following bands is that their upcoming albums are TBA. Maybe someone has some info other than that on any of them. Thank you.

Available for pre-order now but the official release is November 22, 2010.

Presents For Sally

A Touch Of Joy, A Touch Of Sadness

This is very good! One of those releases that once it's finished, I just want to hit the replay button to hear it all over again. One of my tops of the year!

We've been playing the new Kanye in the office all day and I gotta say, I've never spent much time with any of his previous stuff but this thing is real good and entertaining. Last week it was C-lo so I'm feeling like quite the Urban Vanilla over here.
