The 2010 Albums Thread
« on: October 02, 2009, 05:06:16 am »
This is meant to be an extension of "The 2009 Albums Thread". Since it's dated, I thought I'd start a new one to serve as a Part II, of sorts.

Butterfly Explosion
(with help from God Is An Astronaut)

Target date: February 2010

From what I've heard, it's very good and even better than their debut EP.

No clue on dates for these two but:
New Jack Rose on Thrill Jockey

New album from Rick Bishop/Chris Corsano/Ben Chasny's yet unnamed band. If there was ever a supergroup that's not destined to fail, this is it.

Not exactly an 'album' but related enough to include in this thread.

"We are delighted to make the first TRUE announcement concerning the forthcoming haunted and exhilarated album by Current 93. This will be released on or
around David's birthday in 2010.

THE CIPHER FOR THE ALBUM IS

.'. BS:SO .'.

THE TRUE NAME WILL FOLLOW SOON

Full details will follow very soon of the subscription edition.

Each track has a picture. Each picture has a face. Each face has one of you in it.

We are also considering whether to make the book, CD and vinyl of this album available only by mail order and for download. These discussions continue."

;D

Awesome, I cant wait.  The EP was very good, and gets play on my shoegaze playlist.  Plus working with GIAA?  Bad ass.

And the Spree definitely need to release something new.  They usually do a few years between albums, and the Fragile Army just came out in 2007.  Wiki says they started their new one in August, so maybe mid next year...

TMT:

"The Magnetic Fields to Release Realism in January 2010

The Magnetic Fields are back and presumably better than ever. Their eighth LP, Realism, is set for release January 26 via Nonesuch. Aside from the title, release date, label, and tracklisting, we ain?t got much else to say. But I bet it?ll be as compelling as 2008?s Distortion (TMT Review). I mean, why not?

Realism tracklisting:

1. You Must Be Out of Your Mind
2. Interlude
3. We Are Having a Hootenanny
4. I Don?t Know What to Say
5. The Dolls? Tea Party
6. Everything Is One Big Christmas Tree
7. Walk a Lonely Road
8. Always Already Gone
9. Seduced and Abandoned
10. Better Things
11. Painted Flower
12. The Dada Polka
13. From a Sinking Boat"

Hell yes.
