Probably too pedestrian for you beer connoisseurs but I love this year's Celebration Ale from Sierra Nevada!

I haven't tried this year's release, however, I typically Celebrete the Celebration Ale.

In other news...

Admittedly I have no reference point, but stopped at a random store today at lunch and HOLY SHIT the BCBS prices were through the roof.

All variants were $34.99 a bottle, the Bookers/basil hayden variant was $54.99, and a four pack of the 12oz were $49.99.

Hardest pass I've done in a LOOOOONG time.

Is that normal pricing everywhere else??

Total Wine is about as cheap as they come. Just checked their website. 25 for Coffee and Biscotti, 40 for Barlerwine and Anniversary.  No listing for Regular, but I think I heard 13. I haven't bought any. Might pick up a single Regular at some point.

Aslin put out eight Black Friday beers, all barrel aged stouts. I must confess since the place is less than 15 mins from my house, I went three consecutive days and had a full pour each time. Wife went one of the times and got one, so I tried four of the eight.  At 12 bucks for a full pour,  I'm guessing the price point was pretty good compared to whatever the bottle price is (I didn't check.) No complaints on the beers, they were excellent.... though I stayed away from the two that were Pappy aged followed by Apple Brandy aged.

I actually had it at the sierra Nevada in Asheville ( well by the airport) and thought it was pretty good
But I have to agree with sweets, little too malty, felt like it overpowered the hops
I loved their swartizbier
That brewery is quite impressive although really not my thing
But a giant piece of land with some nice views

i didn't like it.  too caramel-y, too malty, too little fresh-hop flavor/aroma.  but awesome that it worked for you- different strokes and whatnot.

Ha!  Yes, indeed.  That's actually why I like it so much (the caramel malt)… I think it's very well rounded.

thru tomorrow night, Sat Dec 17, the Neighborhood Restaurant Group is having a 50% bonus sale on gift certificates: buy a $50 cert, get a bonus $25; buy $100, get an extra $50, etc.  if you know you're going to spend money at Churchkey/Birch and Barley, the Sovereign, etc., why not get 50% free by buying in advance?

Anyone have a take on this pub pass?

https://getpubpass.com/collections/washington-dc-2023

$25 and you get 1 free beer in 25 different breweries in the dc area

Still should leave a tip, but even if you only go to 4 seems like it would be worth it
Yada don’t even look

only negative from me is no VA brewries, and 1/4 are in balt
also doubled up on a few breweries with multiple locations...so really only 21

I could see this being a good deal if you are visiting a city and wanted to hit a bunch of breweries and weren't concerned you might loose street cred for not hitting the best of the best

We made our second ever visit to Sapwood Cellars yesterday. And with apologies to Cushwa, Elder Pine, and all the others not in the top 3 (many of which, admittedly I haven't visited or had a beer from), Sapwood is the clear winner for best brewery in Maryland. Now, if they could only open a taphouse on some farmland closer to my house.
