Taking notes on this, as I now have one of each from 2013.  ;D

Wonder how the Double DBA ages?

cracked open a 2014 parabola tonight.... and damn, that's a fine beer.

i've only had it one other time, i aged a 2013 and opened it back in february, and i said "what's all the fuss about?".  but as it goes with cellaring, sometimes your bottles just don't hold up or develop like you hoped.

contrarily, i think sucaba needs time. give it one year? i basically turn into barney.

opinions vary. all about personal preference.  i tend to to enjoy my imperial stouts hot and my BA barleywines aged. i don't really love DDBA, only had it fresh and it was too sweet for me. it'll only get sweeter as time goes by.

i had a 2011 abacus last month and it tasted no different than the 2013 sucaba i had a week ago.

I had a bottle of Ayinger Jahrhundert.  It was a light lager.  Nothing to get too excited about.  Light on flavor.  But it did its job.

I opened up that 12 pack of Oberon I posted about earlier during the Tigers game. That is still the most pleasing color scheme of any beer label/box I've seen.

Bring me back some Fremont, Hair of the Dog, Ninkasi, Cascade,  Alaskan, and Deschutes. I realize only one of those is a Seattle brewery.

I'm in California now.  I think I saw most of those in a grocery store, here.

i can be of assistance.

if you're in town early october, you might be able to catch elysian's great pumpkin festival or fremonts oktoberfest.  both are fantastic events worth attending.

for breweries... check back closer to that date. my current favorites are fremont, reubens, stoup, and urban family.  all of those are located within a mile or so radius.

for beer in general... oregon makes better beer and you should drink a fair amount of oregon beers while you're here.

I'm always amazed at what good beer you can find in any random store in California. Boggles the mind.

My wife just got a bottle of it for $15 at our local Whole Foods. They got six bottles and sold out very quickly. I guess that's what telecommuting is all about!
