if you're in town early october, you might be able to catch elysian's great pumpkin festival or fremonts oktoberfest. both are fantastic events worth attending.
for breweries... check back closer to that date. my current favorites are fremont, reubens, stoup, and urban family. all of those are located within a mile or so radius.
for beer in general... oregon makes better beer and you should drink a fair amount of oregon beers while you're here.
