Before Venerable and I do the McCallan tasting on Veterans Day, we're doing the Anchor Steam Brewery Tour.  Hail to the Troops.

Rhett, let me ask you. How do you go about drinking 'half' a beer? In other words, do you spring for a whole bottle between two people or do you drink half and put the rest in the refridgerator for another wild whooping time?

You mean James, right?

It comes in a 22 oz bottle, has 8.7% alcohol. Juliet and I will be splitting one. We're such lightweights, I'm sure we'll catch a small buzz even splitting one.

So I went to Church Key (first time) before seeing Thao Nguyen at the Black Cat last night. There was a line out the door, and I had to wait probably 20 minutes before I was allowed to go upstairs to the bar. But it was all worth the wait.... OMG, I think I had the best beer I've ever tasted.

Beer: Aventinus Weizenbock Dunkel

It was like a flavor explosion in my mouth. Mind-blowingly good. Big, bold flavors, but at the same time perfectly balanced and smooth and easy to drink like a weissbier. Highly recommended. And Church Key has it on draft. Unbelievable.
