Bitter American is  a great beer as well with a nice taste and it's not too strong...

I can see why you'd think it's a DC Brau by name and being in a can, but it's actually a 21st Amendment brew from SF.

steve - regarding our earlier convo about saisons:

Some people try and use Dupont yeast, but it's a frustrating process I read.

you're aware that both Wyeast 3724 (Belgian Saison) and White Labs WLP565 (Saison Ale) are the Dupont strain, right?  no need to culture from bottles dregs.

i was not, i thought the frustration was from trying to culture from bottles.  do people even do that?

bought a four-pack of dupont; love it, but dropping $4-5 for each bottle is not so hot.  still have not had helios or stillwater, haven't found either.  had the dfh/stone/victory saison du buff, which i thought was amazing.

It's American Craft Brew Week so the availability of good stuff is pretty spread out through the city. Smith Commons had lots of Bell's on tap last night (2Hearted, Oarsman, Oberon, & Hopslam).

so i went to pizza whateveriso . . . and fuck a place that you can not get into, cannot walk around once you are there, where fuckheads stare mean at you, and the beer selection was not that great.  walked out.

went to big hunt.  not as crowded.  seemed more seedy and dirty.  liked that.  no one stared.  liked that.  beer selection was nice, but not orgasmic.  walked out.  went back to my hotel.  had a free beer i brought with me.  then went to that awesome restaurant across from pizza whateveriso, called pesce . . . and drank goose island ipa until i passed out.

i love dc.  gave the rest of my dinner to a homeless woman and her daughter who was not wearing shoes.  she almost started crying.  but sometimes the town makes me sad.
