Savor Brewery List...

http://www.savorcraftbeer.com/beer-food/savor-breweries/

I saw that list previously and all i have to say is they need to drop the lottery system and get more selective.

Jesus... I've been trying to cut out drinking during the week a bit due to this chart right here. My god.

I'll just continue to cut out Starbucks, Oreos, and McDonalds. On weekends, too. And start training for another marathon.

I think it's exciting... I hadn't heard of half the breweries last year and ended up with a bunch of new favorites.

I'm not really a SAvor person, I'm just repeating what someone on Beer Advocate forums said. They were commenting that this year's crop isn't nearly up to par with previous years, and perhaps the reason is that they select breweries via some kind of lotter system rather than based on some other way.

Ab-Inbev just bought the Goose Island Brewpub in Chicago. That had previously not been included in the sale of the brewery. Goose Island Brewpub remained a separate entity.

While this story is interesting on some levels, particularly as someone who goes to Chicago once a year....what I really found interesting is that the President of Goose Island is named Ken Stout. Fitting, as their head brewer is named Brett Porter.

walky, you have so many good breweries out your way, why are you buying that slop?

I propose brewery tour and bbq at Walky,s after. Sidehutch will drive the bus.

I do?  the only brewery I know of near me is this

http://www.backroombreweryva.com/

brothers, is a good hour from me.

my yard is great for bbqs!  I have a wonderful chalet home, wrap around deck, on 3 acres with a pond and incredible mountain views!  plus the bobcats can come down from the national forest and let you pet them.  just kidding . . . they will eat you.

I can't recall where you live, but don't you live close to Herndon/Reston/Chantilly/Lessburg/etc.etc.etc.

If not, disregard previous post.

no, I live in the national forest / mountains of the Shenandoah valley, near a town called Woodstock.

you couldn't pay me to live close to northern Virginia.  I went to George mason, and that was fucking enough.
