i was less than impressed by 07.04.16 as well.

my favorite of the series, by a long shot, was the unfiltered 02.14.16.  sooooooooo fruity.  they're bringing back an unfiltered version in august, can't wait.

This The Veil thing is getting massively hyped in RVA. They put their cans on sale on Tuesdays at 4pm and people are lining up at noon every week and the entire thing is selling out by 6. It just can't possibly be that good to justify this behavior.

Quite deceiving as basically the entire top 20 other than a few is easily attainable all over the country. I'm sure that impacts the ratings.

Of that top 20, these are the beers I'd buy if I had easy access to them at all times.

I had one on draft and it was good but I also am not queuing to buy beer. Or most anything. I'm not a full-on "I never queue" guy like Smackie but something needs to be sufficiently amazing for me to lineup. Beer does not constitute.

Finally got my Rodenbach Alexander at Whole Foods on P street.  I got two and they had one left on the shelf last night.  I had actually stopped looking.

I had planned a Father's Day beer outing to Aslin following a morning hike of the Billy Goat Trail. But alas Aslin was closed again as they ran out of beer SAturday at 3. There were reports of 100 people being in line even before they opened. Likely many of them to get beer to trade to people around the country (rather than consume themselves), as Master of Karate is now tied for #43 on the Beer Advocate Top 250 (and likely to go higher as it gets more reviews). Instead, we split 32 ozs of an Ocelot saison from a growler and split a 16 oz Imperial Biscotte Break tallboy (never thought I'd see that beer in a tallboy).

Oh well. We did go to Manor Hill Brewing in Ellicott City on Saturday. Good beer, though not Aslin-level. The farm brewery atmosphere there was miles better than the suburban stripmall atmosphere of Aslin. The fact that you have to make a (free) two hour limit reservation for their limited to 50 people at a time tasting room made it a comfortably pleasant (albeit a little hot, no AC) experience.
