i was all bah humbug yesterday about april fools jokes/fakes yesterday, but that story put a smile on my face.  possibly because i had 2 of those over-hyped beers (in this case, Reuben's Brews Hazalicious - a very solid hazy).

of the studies i read (or read about), it's never the alcohol that is beneficial - it's the antioxidants in the wine, the hop compounds in the beer, etc.  it's the "other things" in the beverage, not the alcohol itself.

so we need new studies: are the other benefits in alcoholic drinks greater than the detrimental effects of the associated alcohol?

gawd i hope so, 'cause damn i'm screwed otherwise.

Last but not least, we have assembled a list of amazing spontaneously fermented beers, from classic Lambic producers like Drie Fonteinen, De Cam & Tilquin, as well as contemporary brewers Pen Druid & Jester King!

There is no admission fee for this event. All featured drafts will be priced individually by the glass and in 4 oz. tasting pours. Featured bottles will be available in 4 oz. tasting pours.

i wonder how brewdog will be able to operate the place more profitably than stone?  maybe stone just said "fuck it, we're big enough to absorb this, so let's just call it a loss, and pass it on to someone who can operate it now that setup has been done by us"?

i was reading about that.  sad. 

EPR has an interesting business model: "Meanwhile, EPR’s plan is to purchase real estate from its partners, lease the land back and allow them to continue operating" (source).  interesting way of extracting profit from one's owned entities... i wonder if it's beneficial in terms of taxes.

Sometimes when everyone else is using their Friday lunch hour to go to the DC Auto Show, you have to instead jog somewhere and get a pint. And a pint of this was the tastiest beer I've had in a while, and I had Cantillion last weekend.

Not as good as the RAR beer, but still the best Bell's beer I've tried in a while. Much better than the base beer.

The RAR sounds great. Habanero beers are yucky.

I'm allergic to mango but have had beers with mango with no issue
