Others can comment and will probably say it was transcendent, but I don't. It was fine. It was the right venue for her, but it certainly was not worth $30 plus fees for me. Even though the opening "band" (which consisted of two guys with one guitar who want to be a more melodic Flight of the Conchords) was done around 8:30, Newsom didn't go on until almost 20 after 9, even though all of her band's gear was already set up and the harp was tuned before 9. I have no idea why I had to sit there for 45 minutes waiting for her.
She was fine, but not all that interesting live, and the way she contorts her face whilst singing is very distracting if you're close enough to see it. Better to just listen to her on CD, in my opinion.
